University College of Engineering (BIT Campus), Anna University Tiruchirappalli (UCE, BIT Campus, Tiruchirappalli) otherwise Anna University Chennai – Regional Office, Tiruchirappalli (AUC-ROT) erstwhile Anna University of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, is a technical university department of Anna University. 

It was established on 1999 as a part of Bharathidasan University with five departments.   In 2007, due to management constrains Anna University was split into six universities, namely: Anna University, Chennai; Anna University, Chennai – Taramani Campus; Anna University Chennai - Regional Office, Coimbatore; Anna University Chennai - Regional Office, Madurai; Anna University Chennai – Regional Office, Tiruchirappalli; Anna University Chennai - Regional Office, Tirunelveli.  Government acquired this campus from Bharathidasan University and renamed it as Anna University Tiruchirappalli in 2007.

2013 to present - University College of Engineering, (BIT Campus), Anna University, Tiruchirappalli

The name of the university kept changing due to various administration power transfers.  But since the beginning, it has retained the name BIT campus among students.  During its inception as Anna University, its constituent colleges/campuses were opened in various parts of Tamil Nadu viz., Pattukottai campus, Thirukkuvazhai campus, Ariyalur campus, Dindugal campus, Thoothukudi campus, Ramanathapuram campus, Nagercoil campus and Panruti campus under its control. Subsequently, those campuses were renamed and given to other universities.

In December 2007, it was converted into an affiliating university, with almost all Engineering colleges in the southern district under its fold and absorbed all the government engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu as its constituent colleges. This includes five constituent engineering colleges, 64 Self-Financing Colleges, 10 MBA colleges, three MCA colleges and three colleges offering architecture.  On 14 September 2011 a bill was passed to merge back the universities. However, as of February 2012, the separate universities are still operating.

UCE, BIT Campus, Tiruchirappalli is located on Tiruchirappalli–Pudukkottai National Highway 336, Tamil Nadu, India.  The main campus is situated in Salman Complex, Pudukottai Main Rd, opposite Anna University, in the southern part of Tiruchirappalli and extends over 354 acres adjoining Mandaiyur and the Palkalaiperur.  The nearest airport to the University is Tiruchirappalli International Airport at a distance of 17.2 km.  The college is located 6.8 km away from the Kumaramangalam Railway Station. With a distance of 7.9 km, Trichy Bus Stop is the nearest bus stop. Students can reach Anna University BIT Campus by cab or taxi.

The UCE, BIT Campus, Tiruchirappalli is a constituent college of Anna University, Chennai.  The accredited university has powers to grant affiliations to colleges and universities conducting graduate and post graduate studies, as well as diploma courses, and so is recognized by the UGC.  It is Approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is Accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

Anna University Tiruchirappalli (BIT Campus) offers higher education in Engineering, Technology, Management and Allied sciences at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate level.  The university offers BE/BTech, ME/MTech, MCA, MBA, M.Pharm, M.Pharm and Ph.D/MS (by Research) programs in all disciplines.  The Institute offers courses that are approved by AICTE with an annual intake of 1238 seats imparted at affordable fees.   The Accepted Exams for admission into the UG programs is TNEA/CBSE/12^th.  Eligible candidates must appear for the state-level counselling - Tamilnadu Engineering Admission (TNEA), conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu.  The University College of Engineering Bharathidasan Institute of Technology Campus Anna University PG admission process is done based on scores of candidates in the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET).

The Departments of this university receives funds from various nodal agencies such as CSIR, DST, DRDO, UGC, TNSCST, ICMR, MNRE for research activities.  It also offers Post Graduate Courses to teaching faculties of other colleges to enrich their academic career through Modular Based Credit Banking System (MBCBS).

The UCE, BIT Campus, Tiruchirappalli facilities include a well-stocked Library, two Boys' Hostels, three Girls' Hostels, a Cafeteria, an uditorium, sports, modern IT infrastructure and laboratories and many more. It houses ten departments, six hostels (3 each for boys and girls), two cottages(using by hostel students one each for boys and girls), a gymnasium (indoor stadium), a government health centre, three banks, Animal Centre(under Pharmaceutical department), canteen, student co-operative store, guest houses for vice-chancellor and VIPs and parking facilities on all buildings.  The campus has vast area available for development.  It was one of the first University campuses in the world to provide Mechanical and Civil engineering completely in Tamil Medium.  Separate editions of various engineering books are exclusively written and translated into Tamil by faculties of this university.  The university also conducts National and International Conferences/Symposium regularly.  The AUTianz, is the official students' e-Magazine of Anna University of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.

The admission of students to all the programmes is through a Single Window Admission System, administered by Anna University. The higher secondary marks are scaled to 200, based on which the merit list/ ranks are released. Counseling is conducted based upon the ranking.

Placements: More than 80% of the students were placed in various companies. In top companies like Zoho, Infosys, Tata, etc., students were placed each year. Above 50% of students are taking internship courses. Teachers are making all students smart and good and eligible for the campus interview.

Candidates selected for the award of PG scholarships (under ME/MTech) shall be provided Scholarship @ Rs. 7800/-per month for the duration of the PG Scholarship. For other courses, the amount of scholarship will be paid @Rs. 4500/- per month.

Boys Hostel
The college has two boys hostels i.e. Vaigai Boys Hostel and Marutham Boys Hostel. Both hostels have basic facilities like wifi connectivity, RO water supply, common room equipped with tv etc. for the students.


Girls Hostel
Mullai Girls Hostel, Kothai Girls Hostel and Girls New Hostel are the three girls hostels at the campus. The rooms of girls hostels are spacious and clean. Basic amenities like wifi, RO water supply etc. are available in hostels.


Medical/Hospital
The institute has a medical centre at the campus. It provides basic first aid to students, staff and faculty members.


Library
University College of Engineering Bharathidasan Institute of Technology library is spread over an area of 748 square meters. The ground floor of the library is fully air conditioned. The library has an ample number of books of various streams of science and technology. Furthermore, multimedia, reprography and a CD-ROM collection are also available in the library.


Sports
The institute Department of Physical Education conducts various sports events at the campus. The college has both indoor and outdoor sports facilities for the students.
