Alagappa College of Technology is a leading educational institution located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India that offers higher education in Engineering, Technology and Allied Sciences. The college was established in 1944 under University of Madras and later was integrated with Anna University in 1978 as a constituent part of Anna University within its Guindy Campus.  Funds for its establishment in the amount of five hundred thousand Indian rupees were donated by philanthropist, Vallal Dr. Alagappa Chettiar to Dr. A. Lakshmanaswami Mudaliar, Vice Chancellor of Madras University in 1943.  Dr. Alagappa Chettiar expressed an interest in setting up a College that offered newer technology related courses.  As a token of appreciation for his generosity, Madras University resolved to name the college as Alagappa College of Technology, offering Chemical Engineering, Textile Engineering and Leather Technology and also conferred on him the Honorary Degree of LL.D. at a special Convocation.

Anna University was established on 4th September 1978 as a unitary type of University. The University was formed by bringing together and integrating two well-known technical institutions in the city of Madras: College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG) (1794), Madras Institute of Technology, Chrompet (MIT ) (1949), Alagappa College of Technology (ACT) (1944), and School of Architecture and Planning (SAP) (1957).  It offers higher education in Engineering, Technology and allied Sciences relevant to the current and projected needs of the society. Besides promoting research and disseminating knowledge gained there from, it fosters cooperation between the academic and industrial communities.

 Alagappa University Chennai campus is situated in the southern part of the city and sprawls across 435.98 Acres of lush land, (428.15 acres in Main Campus and and 7.83 acres in Thondi Campus) creating a highly secure, eco conscious and student friendly learning ambience.  The Institute is located in the on Sardar Patel Rd, Anna University, Guindy, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.  The nearest Bus stop to ACTECH is Gandhi Mandapam ACTech which is about 1.5 Kms away. ACTECH Chennai offers various courses at the UG, PG and Doctoral Levels.  The courses include B.Tech (11 programs), M.Tech  (13 Programs), Ph.D programs in full time mode.  The eligibility to join these programs, one needs to score at least 45% marks (40% for reserved) in aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Class XII.  Admissions are done on the basis of aggregate marks in Class XII PCM through TNEA counselling for Tamil Nadu students and through Anna University counselling for Other State students.  The Entrance exams are TNEA, CEAP - GATE/TANCET.  ACTECH offers Scholarships for the meritorious and deserving students who are in need of financial assistance.

B.E/B.Tech - 4 Years Course

Admission Process:

The admission notice is published in all the leading news papers and in the TAMIL NADU ENGINEERING ADMISSION TNEA website. The admission of students to all the programmes is through a Single Window Admission System, administered by Anna University. The higher secondary marks are scaled to 200, based on which the merit list/ ranks are released. Counseling is conducted based upon the ranking.

Eligibility:

The admission to UG programmes is purely based on the marks obtained in the Higher Secondary examinations.

M.E/M.Tech-2 Years Course

Admission Process:

Application forms can be obtained online from the Centre for Admission CFA website. Rank lists based upon the CEAP (GATE and/or CEETA) are hence released and counseling is conducted based upon the ranking.

Eligibility:

Candidates must have a valid GATE Score with qualifying score for assistantship in appropriate discipline of Engineering / Technology (or) They must have a recent CEETA score, that is conducted by Anna University
