About UAS Dharwad

The University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad was established on October 1, 1986.

The University has 5 Colleges, 27 Research Stations, 6 Agriculture Extension Education Centers, 6 Krishi Vigyan Kendras and ATIC. The University has its jurisdiction over 7 districts namely Bagalkot, Belgaum, Bijapur, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, and Uttar Kannada in northern Karnataka. Greater diversity exists in soil types, climate, topography cropping and farming situations. The jurisdiction includes dry-farming to heavy rainfall and irrigated area. Important crops of the region include sorghum, cotton, rice, pulses, chilli, sugarcane, groundnut, sunflower, wheat, safflower etc. The region is also known for many horticultural crops. Considerable progress has been registered in the field of education, research and extension from this University.

Objectives of University of Agricultural Sciences Dharwad

Making provision for imparting education towards development of quality human resource in different branches of study specified in sub-section (3) of section 2; Furthering the advancement of learning and conducting of research, particularly in agriculture and other allied sciences.

UAS Dharwad Admission Process

UAS Dharwad offers admissions at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level. B.Sc Agriculture Hons., M.Sc Agricultural Economics, Master of Home Science in Human Development and Family Studies, M.B.A. Agribusiness Management, Ph.D Agricultural Entomology etc. are some of the courses offered by the university. UAS Dharwad admissions to undergraduate courses are offered on the basis of merit of the qualifying examination or by the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority or by ICAR. UAS Dharwad admissions to postgraduate courses is based on merit of the qualifying examination and a written test with 50% weightage to each. UAS Dharwad admissions are only offered to those students who have appeared in the counselling round, got their documents verified and paid the admission fees. Saksham Scholarship:
Only for differently abled students with more than 40% disability.
Family income should be less than Rs. 8 lakhs per annum.
Students must be admitted in first year diploma/undergraduate degree level programmes/courses in AICTE approved Institutions.

Scheme of 'Merit cum Means Based Scholarship' For Students Belonging to The Minority Communities
Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured more than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination.
The annual income of the family from all sources should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakhs per annum.

Seed Unit
It is the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad is home to a highly-specialized Research-based Independent Seed Unit. The seed unit was created in 1996 and the head of the administration is called a Special Seed Officer'. Additionally, the primary purpose for this Seed Unit is to maintain breeding and production of the nucleus foundation, and breeder seeds from various varieties of crops. Furthermore, the seed bank is involved in research and development that are related to the seed product.
