The University of Jammu, commonly known as Jammu University, is a public state university located in Jammu city of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It was established in the year 1969 through an act of the state legislature after the bifurcation of the former University of Jammu and Kashmir. The university is a government institution with the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir serving as its Chancellor. Its main goal is to promote higher education, research, and overall intellectual growth while contributing to social and regional development.
