The University of Mysore was established on July 27, 1916. It is the sixth oldest in the country and the first in the state of Karnataka. Also, in a sense it is the first university of the country to be established outside the limits of the British India. The university was founded as a result of the efforts of the benevolent and visionary Maharaja of erstwhile Princely State of Mysore His Highness Shri Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar – IV (1884-1940), and the then Diwan Sir M. Visvesvaraya (1860-1962). It was the first University to be accredited by NAAC in 2000 with Five Star Status.
The University is located in Mysuru, the cultural centre of Karnataka. Mysuru was the capital of the Wadiyar dynasty. It is a city of palaces, temples, and gardens. Being a splendid tourist centre with historical monuments and unique architecture, it is famous for silk, sandalwood oil and artifacts of ivory and sandalwood. The city has salubrious climate throughout the year. It is about 140 kms south west of Bengaluru, the State capital, and is well connected by rail, road and air.

Mysore University Admission Process
University of Mysore (UOM) offers admissions to diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programmes. Mysore University admissions to its undergraduate online courses like B.Com, BBA and BCA are based on the merit of the qualifying examination (10+2). University of Mysore admission to PG programmes is through the Entrance examination conducted by UOM. Candidates must take the Karnataka PGCET and receive a passing Mysore University result to be considered for UOM admission to the M.C.A., M.B.A., M.Tech. Create an account and verify your email and mobile number
Complete the online application process with all the required details.
Make the fee payment online using a debit/ credit card, net banking, or via a DD in favour of the University
Submit the University of Mysore application form
After submission, candidates are required to download the PDF, and then send it along with signed copies of the required documents to the Registration Department address given.
University Of Mysore UG Admission Process
Candidates must meet the UOM UG eligibility criteria to apply for the courses.
Eligible candidates must fill out the application form from the Mysore University website.
UOM admissions to UG programmes like B.Com, BBA and BCA are done based on the performance of the candidate in the qualifying examination.
Selected candidates must get their documents verified and pay the University of Mysore admission fees.
UOM PG Course Admission Process
Candidates must meet the Mysore University PG eligibility criteria to apply for the courses.
Eligible candidates must appear and qualify for the Entrance Examination conducted by the University of Mysore.
The merit list will be prepared based on the performance of the candidate in the qualifying examination (50%) and entrance examination (50%).
Selected candidates must get their documents verified and pay the University of Mysore admission fees.
University of Mysore Admission Process: MBA/MCA Courses
Candidates are advised to take Karnataka PGCET and get a passing grade.
KMAT scores are also accepted for University of Mysore MBA admissions.
The Karnataka Examinations Authority publishes the UOM cutoff and applicants must achieve it.
The Karnataka Examinations Authority is conducting counselling, and eligible candidates must register.
Take part in counselling and complete the college selections.

The university's Center for Proficiency Development and Placement Services (CPDPS) is in charge of managing the student placements. Students are assisted in identifying their areas of interest by the Centre for Proficiency Development and Placement Services, which also helps them get ready for the appropriate field. As per NIRF 2023 report, 20 students from the UG 5-year programme were placed with Mysore University median salary package of Rs 3,75,000. 15 students from the PG 1-Year programme students were placed with a median salary package of Rs 1,25,000 during the University of Mysore placements. 895 students from the PG 2-year programme received UOM median salary package of Rs 2,05,000. Auditorium: The university has an auditorium. It also boasts a vast open-air theatre with a seating capacity of 10,000 people where large-scale cultural events can be hosted.
