The advent of Varuvan Vadivelan Institute of Technology, Dharmapuri goes way back to the year 2002, when Lakshmi Educational Trust was founded by the farsighted dynamic Founder/Chairman, Mr. M. Vadivelen, a graduate of Madras University.

In the year 2004-2005, The Lakshmi Ammal Teacher Training Institute, the first self -financing institute in Dharmpuri and Krishnagiri district, was started by the Trust in memory of the founder's mother Lakshmi Ammal. Soon after in the year 2005-2006 Varuvan Vadivelan College of Education was started and it offered BEd., MEd., courses. The college secured gold medal from Thiru Surjit Singh Barnala, His Excellency, The Governor of Tamil Nadu and the Chancellor of Periyar University, Salem which has been a matter of great pride to the Institution.

In the year 2007-2008 The Lakshmi Ammal College of Education for Women was started. And in the year 2008, Varuvan Vadivelan Institute of Technology was launched with the objective of providing quality technical education to the rural youth in that part of the State of Tamilnadu.

VVIT Engineering College is located in a sprawling greenish site abetting NH7, 4 KM from Dharmapuri, on Krishnagiri Main Road, Gundalapatty, Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu.The Institute is Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and is Approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

The courses offered here include B.E (in 5 disciplines), B.Tech (in 2 disciplines), as well as M.E (in 3 disciplines). . Admission Procedure

For PG programs such as M.E., applicants should possess a relevant bachelor's degree and are required to appear for the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET).
