The college started its academic journey in the year 1998 with 6 branches of study that included both UG and PG streams. The virtue began with the initiative of Col. Prof. Dr. Vel. R. Rangarajan, a visionary and philanthropist by nature. The college is affiliated to University of Madras. This college runs under R.S Trust. The college is one among the renowned educational institutions which caters holistic education to the students of various strata of the society, particularly to the students with poor economic background.

     The college has manned by highly qualified and dedicated faculty who always strive for the betterment and welfare of the students. The college periodically organizes various events, such as Seminars, Workshops and Guest Lectures to equip the students with latest and recent trends that are evolving in their respective domain. Moreover, we have MOU with various industries, academic and trade bodies in order to arm the students with practical exposure.

      The college is equipped with excellent infrastructure, which includes lab facilities, library and other amenities which provides platform for the students to learn in an amicable and stressless manner.

      In Our institution we are providing hostel facility for both genders separately. However, we try our best to provide accommodation to needy students from outside areas or localities and various parts of our country / world.The hostels provide a calm atmosphere necessary for deep study. There is copious water available trough out the day. There are play fields for cricket, volley ball and basket ball where student spent time in sports activities. The hostel rooms are well furnished with Tube light, Night lamp, Fan, Cot, Shelf are provided. Coin telephones have been fixed in boys and girls hostels for the use of hostellers.

PLACEMENT AND TRAINING

·                      It is a program which has been offered to our students to enhance and develop the strategy of interview techniques, communication skills, Aptitude, logical, reasoning Etc., We invite resource personalities from various reputed institutions, organizations and industries to impart and demonstrate the logistics of employability in the technological Era.

·                             The program helps our students to face the challenging task in the interviews and competitive examination. More over few of our students have cleared preliminary examinations which have been conducted by the respective training institutions. The Institutions concerned have given awards to our pupils.

·                         Nowadays many esteemed organizations, industries have been expecting good communication skills from the candidates so we are conducting soft skill classes especially to improve this skill among our students by practicing and interacting with us as well as resource personalities .It has given them better exposure when they step into industries for Job. Special focus on aptitude, reasoning, logical to improve the IQ (Intelligence Quotient) levels of our students which strengthen thinking and analyzing ability of our students. So we are imparting all kinds of resources and training for the growth of our students.

 Scholarships

In our Vel Tech Ranga Sanku Arts College, we are providing scholarship for our students, which is given by the state and centeral aided funds.

 Objectives:

• To support the students economically

• To improve the education of weaker section of the society

• To motivate the students to achieve better education

• To acknowledge the talents of the students who do not have sufficient economical background.

We have been giving scholarship since the inception and the following table contains the beneficiaries of our college.

     Students Health care centre is located in the campus with easy reach of all the students. It is attended by a full time Medical Superintendent and part time qualified Specialists in General Medicine. If a student is ill he/ she will immediately taken to hospital nearby in an ambulance. No other college will provide this special facility. We have enough beds for taking care of ill students with attached toilet inside the medical room.

      A full time trained nurse will be available to take care of the students. All types of general medicines will be available for the needy students as one may need it at any time. Consultation and Medicines are all free of cost.

    The Lab provides opportunities to learn more using the most modern equipments. Our Labs primary function is to meet the teaching and research needs of the technological world. These labs are helpful for the students to improve their knowledge in their respective field.

   In our college we are having well equipped, spacious lab with all updated resources which gratify the needs of the present day IT sector. Our computer lab consists of 90 PCs connected in LAN which is connected to high speed broad band connectivity.

     In the name of our institution, nearly 68 buses are plying from various places for the welfare and development and of the students. Buses will take the students and faculties from different areas and make them to reach the college in time. Students will monitored by a BMO (Bus Monitoring Officer) in each and every bus. All our buses are equipped with good infrastructure and operated in good condition. T-Cards will be issued to the students according to the distance between routes such as R1,R2,R3 and bus fees will differ for the routes.
