The Velammal Medical College Hospital and Research Institute is situated in a beautiful green landscape of a widely spread 140-acre self-sustained township.   It is located near Toll Gate, Madurai-Tuticorin/ Airport-Mattuthavani Ring Road, Velammal Village, Anuppanadi, Near Chinthamani, Madurai, Tamil Nadu.  The College is 11 Kms from the Madurai Airport.  9 kms from Arapalayam Bus Stand, 7 kms from Madurai Railway Station and 9 from Mattuthavani (MGR) Bus Stand. One can reach the campus easily by various modes of transport from all parts of the State and rest of India.

The VMCH is affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai and recognized by National Medical Commission (NMC) with the annual intake of 150 seats in MBBS and 43 seats in 15 disciplines of Postgraduate studies.   It is also accredited by NAAC.

The VMCH offers both UG and PG programs in the field of Medicine and Allied Health Services.  The MBBS, MD/MS programs need NEET UG and NEET PG for admissions into the college.

Velammal Medical College Hospital And Research Institute, Madurai provides certain facilities to the students and other members of the institute. There is also a hospital inside the campus which is provided with all necessary facilities needed for the medical treatment of patients. Operation Theatres- Operation theatres are sectioned into two types- minor and major. The minor OT is for casualty, Surgical OPD, Ophthalmology, OBG OPD, Orthopaedics OPD and ENT whereas the major OT is for General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, ENT and OBG. All the operation theatres are well equipped with closed circuit cameras and recording systems so that students can learn and get an idea of operating surgeries.

Intensive Care Unit- The ICU is well equipped with multi-parameter invasive monitoring, invasive and noninvasive ventilators, infusion pumps, and dialysis, with pulse generator ( external pacemaker), bi-physic – defibrillator, bi-pap / c-pap ventilator, volumetric infusion pump, monitor with NIBP and IBP, mainstream EtCO2 monitor to treat patients with critical illness.

Central Laboratory- The central laboratory of the hospital is provided with facilities of Biochemistry, Microbiology, Clinical Pathology etc.

Blood Bank- Blood Bank is a center where blood is stored donated by blood donors and later used for blood transfusion needed by patients.

Cath Lab- The Cath Lab of Velammal Medical College Hospital And Research Institute, Madurai has all advanced equipment needed in treating any abnormalities related to heart.

Emergency Services- The hospital also has an emergency department which works 24x7 for the treatment of patients. The emergency ward has trained medical doctors and nurses to attend patients in case of any emergency.
