The Vinayaka Mission’s Sankarachariyar Dental College, Salem is one of the reputed Private Dental Colleges in Tamil Nadu, popularly known as VMS Dental College.  It was established in 1986-87 to fortify the weaker section of the Nation and to serve aspiring students with the best Dental care and Oral & Maxillofacial Surge.  The college has committed itself to becoming a Center for Excellence in Dental Education and Hospital Practice in the field of Dental Sciences with the objective of strengthening the Health care sector of the country.  Dr. A Shanmugasundaram is the Founder.

The Vinayaka Mission’s Sankarachariyar Dental College, Salem is affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai.  It is approved by the Dental Council of India, Govt. of India and has NAAC accreditation with Grade-A.  The VMS Dental College later on became a constituent College of  Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation [Deemed to be University] from 2006.

VMS Dental College, Salem offers with three courses viz., Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Diploma in Dental Mechanic and Diploma in Dental Hygienist and Master of Dental Surgery (MDS).  For BDS the qualifying examination is NEET UG.  For MDS the Candidate must pass a recognized BDS Degree qualification from a university recognized by DCI and obtained a minimum eligibility percentile in NEET MDS.  For Diploma, the eligibility is a pass in 10+2 /H.Sc. or its equivalent Examination with science subjects of Physics, Chemistry & Biology (Botany & Zoology).  Programs are offered by the college with approval of DCI.

Admission Procedure

To get admitted to Vinayaka Missions Sankarachariyar Dental College, you must first appear for and qualify in the NEET UG (for BDS) or NEET MDS (for MDS) entrance exam.
