Vinayaka Mission’s Kirupananda Variyar Medical College which was started in 1995, is a constituent college of Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation, Salem.  The institution was established with a vision of providing service to humanity by making available the best form health care to the local community.  It provides able governance and leadership to translate this vision into action through its high quality Medical Education and advancement of Medical Program to achieve national and international health goals.

The Vinayaka Missions Kirupananda Variyar Medical College and Hospital is located in the rural area of Salem in a vast area of 51 acres in Chinna Seeragapadi, Salem, Tamil Nadu, India. The ampus is about 14 km from Salem Town Railway Station. Salem Airport is 29 km and Gandhi Road Bus Stop, located at a distance of 15 km from VMKVMC Salem is the closest bus stop. Students can also take a cab or an auto to VMKVMC Salem campus once they arrive in Salem.

VMKVMCH is affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai. The college is approved by UGC and NMC, New Delhi.  The hospital is having consultancy services, tie-ups with Govt. of Tamil Nadu. 

VMKVMC Salem offers various courses at UG and PG levels including MBBS, MD, and MS. The admissions to MBBS programs are through valid NEET scores. The admissions to MD and MS programs are through NEET PG scores. The College intakes 150 students for MBBS, 15 MD specialisations and 5 MS  specialisations.

VMKVMC Salem which covers a sprawling area of 51 acres is adequately equipped with all basic infrastructural facilities. Lecture Halls, Clinical Laboratories, Cafeteria, Library, Hostels, Internet Centre, Indoor/Outdoor Sports & Games facilities, and Student Health Services are some of the facilities provided by the institute. All the departments have adequate space and are well equipped with ICT enabled air conditioned Lecture Halls with latest Audio Visual Teaching Aids. The institution has both internal and external Quality Assurance Cell for promoting the quality of Academic, Administrative and Research activities.

The well-experienced and highly qualified Team of Faculty at the VMKVMCH are encouraged to perform Research activities both at the National as well as International level providing incentives and funds as per Research guidelines of Vinayaka Missions University. The institution has two medical journals NJBMS and Rural Medicine. There were four conferences (national & international) conducted in last five years. The  faculty have brought out more than 400 publications in national and international journals with high impact factor. Periodically, the Medical Education Unit conducts Faculty Development Programs are as per the Medical Council of India norms, to train the young medical faculty. 

Professional Development Programs, Student Mentoring programs and Extra-curricular activities are conducted for the students regularly. The institution conducts co-curricular activities like Seminar, Workshops, CME, etc. every month. Medical Camps and NSS programs are conducted in rural, tribal and urban areas in and around Salem and neighbouring districts. Curriculum Development programs are taken up regularly to update Teaching methodologies, Curriculum and Syllabus for the UG and PG courses

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible for admission to MBBS Degree Course, a candidate must have passed in 10+2 / H.Sc. (or) its equivalent examination with subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology at the Qualifying Examination and in addition, must have come in the merit list of NEET -UG for admission to MBBS Degree Course.
In respect of the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories, the marks obtained in PCB / Biotechnology taken together in the qualifying Examinations must be 40% marks instead of 50%. In respect of candidates with PWD (Persons with Disabilities) the minimum marks shall be 45% for general and 40% for SC/ST/OBC category.
In order to become eligible for admission to MBBS Degree Course for a particular academic year, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain minimum of 50th percentile marks in NEET UG. However, in respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category the minimum marks must be 40th percentile and PWD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates the minimum marks shall be 45th Percentile for general category and 40th Percentile for SC/ST/OBC category.
Candidate shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission.

A Pass in MBBS Degree Course or an equivalent qualification and should have obtained a minimum eligibility percentile in NEET- PG.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Admissions will be made for UG & PG Degree programmes through online counseling will be conducted by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of DGHS, Ministry of Health & Family welfare, Government of India, New Delhi on the basis of Marks obtained in the NEET Examinations and the eligibility criteria prescribed by the NMC regulations in accordance with the guidelines and directions issued by the Hono’ble Supreme Court of India / Government of India / National Medical Commission, New Delhi and VMRF-DU from time to time.

Almost 90% of students got placed in high package in this college and the highest package is 9.5 Lacs per annum, and the medical health care companies will in this to get placements in biomedical engineering.
