About

Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation had its inception in the year 1981 with the establishment of the Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal (TKVTSS) Medical Educational and Charitable Trust.   Building upon this foundation, the visionary Founder-Chairman, Dr. A. Shanmugasundaram, founded the Vinayaka Mission's College of Pharmacy at Salem in 1982. This institution marked the pioneering step of Vinayaka Missions in the realm of education.  Today it is still going strong with 43 years of experience.

In a significant step, the year 2001 witnessed the prestigious status of "Deemed-to-be University"  conferred on Vinayaka Missions by The Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, with the endorsement / recomendations of the UGC (Established Under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956).  This accolade acknowledged the institution's  unwavering commitment to academic excellence, satisfaction of the highest level of academic standards and provision of exceptional  infrastructural facilities, all of which converged to establish preeminence in education.  This recognition was a mile stone heralding the transformation of Vinayaka Missions  to becoming Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation (VMRF), marking its distinction as the 48th University in India.

VMRF boasts an extensive academic landscape comprising of 13 Colleges and 11 Schools, including :3 Medical Colleges, 2 Engineering Colleges, 1 Dental College, 1 Pharmacy College, 1 Homeopathy Medical College, 3 Physiotherapy Colleges/Schools, 3 Nursing Colleges, 2 Arts & Science Colleges/Schools, 5 Schools of Allied Health Sciences, and 1 School dedicated to Law, Physical Education, Rehabilitation and Behavioral Science. These institutions are spread across four campuses in Salem and Chengalpet Districts in Tamilnadu, as well as Puducherry and Karaikal of the Union Territory of Puducherry.

With an expansive and impressive, state of art infrastructure encompassing more than 18 Crores square feet across various campuses, the university prides itself on itsfacilities. The university nurtures a rich array of faculties, fostering a strong emphasis on Interdisciplinary and Multi-Disciplinary Research. The Medical colleges, collectively offering 2000 beds, extend healthcare services tirelessly to rural population. The university’s engagement with over 30 villages underscores its commitment to healthcare and well-being. Satellite medical centers further augment the university's outreach, while its Virology Research Labs, accredited by NABL, stand as instrumental hubs for SARS-Covid virus testing.

Nearly 15,000 students are studying in the various constituent colleges, and every year approximately 3000 medical, dental, homoeopathy, paramedical, engineering and management professionals besides arts & science graduates graduate from the University campuses successfully. Across the university, a remarkable 46 Research centers/Laboratories spearhead exploration in vital domains including Biochemistry, Microbiology, Food Science and Technology, Virology, Alternative Energy, Environment, Nano Technology, Pharmacy and Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Internet of Things.

In tandem with its academic endeavors, the university champions entrepreneurship, with MSME-recognized Business Incubation Centers at its Engineering colleges, promoting Start-ups. Evidencing its innovative prowess, the university and its constituent institutions hold 69 patents.

Admission Procedure

Vinayaka Missions University Salem Courses are offered at UG, PG, Doctorate level. There are 255 courses offered at Vinayaka Missions University Salem. The courses are offered disciplines like Medical, Paramedical, Science, Management. Vinayaka Missions University Salem courses includes B.Sc, MBA, M.Sc, MBBS, BE, B.Sc (Nursing), B.Tech, Ph.D, BHMS, B.P.T. Popular courses at Vinayaka Missions University Salem are B.Sc, MBA, M.Sc.

Admission Criteria

UG - ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

• A pass in 10+2 / H.Sc (or) its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Maths & Biology / Physics, Chemistry, Botany & Zoology / Physics, Chemistry, Maths & Computer Science
  
• Candidate shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of Admission.

PG - ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

A pass in B.Sc. Allied Health Science Degree (or) its equivalent examination with relevant subjects

Diploma - ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

A pass in 10th / H.Sc (or) its equivalent examination with science subjects

The roles and responsibilities of the Placement Cell include the establishment of such Cells in all the Constituent Units of the University.Empower the students in various skills so that they become employable and successful.Collaborate with multiple organizations for the purpose of Employment and Training.Improve access of the Stakeholders to the Cell.Coordinate with all the Constituent Units.Connect well with the Alumni.Create a platform for Placement through Campus Interviews and Job fairs.Identify Gaps in the knowledge, skill, and attitude domains of the graduates.Design policies and processes.Collect feedback and escalate for action.Collect Data, document, and Monitor the overall functioning of the Cell and its Units.

Scholarship

Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (Deemed to be University) offers scholarships / fee concessions and fee waiver to recognize and reward meritorious students. The scholarships / concessions / Freeship are awarded to students as per the categories listed. These scholarships / concessions / Freeship are given every year to help young aspiring students to pursue higher education. The quantum of scholarship and the number of scholarships are subject to change from time to time and according to the courses.

Scholarship Procedure

Selection

a) Every year all eligible students have to apply for fresh and renewal of the scholarship in the prescribed form available in the University / College office/ Website. Failure to apply for renewal within the stipulated date will disqualify the student for scholarship for subsequent years

b) Application forms for request of scholarship for fresh and renewal will be received from May to till August of every year.

c) A student can apply and avail ONLY ONE scholarship

d) The scholarship committee instituted by the university shall be the authority to scrutinize the
application and recommend eligible candidate names for the award of scholarship and/or tuition waiver
as applicable. The Vice Chancellor shall be the final authority to approve the award of the scholarship.

e) The eligible students will be informed through the Head of the Institution
