Vivekananda College of Engineering & Technology (VCET)

Vivekananda College of Engineering & Technology, one of the reputed engineering colleges in the coastal region of Western Karnataka, was established in the year 2001 by the Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha Puttur (R) with the vision of providing quality technical education to students from all over the country, particularly to those in the rural parts of coastal Karnataka, fostering academic excellence and nurturing bright futures for its students

VCET campus is spread over a serene lush green campus sprawling 25 acres of land with a built-up area covering approximately 55,932 square meters. Vivekananda Campus is situated along the Mangalore-Madikeri Highway123 in Nehru Nagar, Puttur, Chittoor, Karnataka.

VCET which aims to become the most preferred learning institute is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgavi and has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Educaion (AICTE), New Delhi.

VCET Puttur offers a number of UG and PG courses in Engineering. The Degree programs include BE (in 6 Disciplines), MBA and MCA. The eligibility for admissions to these programs is on the basis of the Entrance Exams KEA CET COMEDK, UGCET, UGET or JEE.

All the modern facilities required for quality education is provided within the campus. Admission Process

In the admission procedure, allotment of seats and fees structure for all the seats, our College strictly adheres the order of the Government of Karnataka amended from time to time and prevalent at the date of admission. As per the order of the Government of Karnataka, the allotment and distribution of the seats are as follows:

Government Quota Seats

45% of the seats are filled by the Government of Karnataka through Karnataka Examination Authority Bangalore.

Management Quota Seats

30% Seats are filled by COMEDK through Central Counselling.
25% of the seats are filled by Management.

Admission for Government Quota Seats

The Government of Karnataka conducts Common Entrance Test (CET) through Karnataka Examination Authority. This entrance exam is a gateway to get engineering seats in Government quota. As per the CET ranking students can select the college at the time of CET counseling.

KEA is conducting centralized counselling and allotments to the 45% of the Intake prescribe by AICTE, New Delhi for Undergraduate programme.

KEA is also allotting additional 5% of Seats under Super Numerary Quota.

Scholarship

As I have taken the mechanical branch I had annual fees of 85000 and the college also provides scholarships to students. Our college has good placement opportunities and they provide very good internships.

Facility

The concept of creating a 'home away from home' underlines the care taken to make the students comfortable in the hostels. Newly built modern structure with spacious rooms caters to the residential needs of the boarders staying away from their homes. The primary purpose of the hostel is to provide an environment that is conducive for concentrated study and cultivate a life style of discipline and co-operation.

Round the clock hot water supply through solar heaters and uninterrupted lighting system are ensured. Indoor and outdoor games, TV, reading hall, mini library and a prayer hall are also provided. A hygienically maintained kitchen offering good quality vegetarian food and spacious dining halls ensure that the boarders are well nourished. All these residential facilities come to the students at a very economical rate, minimizing the financial burden on the parents.

Dedicated wardens and supervisory staff along with faculty members oversee the welfare of the students. Discipline is practiced through well-maintained timings and study hours with strict vigilance exercised with regard to visitors. The hostel and the college premises are completely free from ragging.

A vast playground with 400m track for athletics is located adjacent to the college building. Further, Gymnasium and Health Care units are also available within the campus. Plans are underway for the construction of a Basketball Court and a Tennis Court.

The Industry Connect IoT (ICIoT) Lab at our premises was inaugurated on …day, 24th September 2018

Our ICIoT Lab intends to provide end to end infrastructure which enables the students to transform their ideas into socially relevant projects. The state-of-the-art laboratory helps researchers as well as potential entrepreneurs to explore the commercial angle of their work.

This lab has enabled the students to transform ideation of projects to realization of products and will also provide foundation for start-ups in future.
