Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute (MMCHRI),a constituent college of Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research  (MAHER), is a tertiary care teaching hospital located in Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu.  Mr. A.N. Radhakrishnan, M.A., D.Com., is the Managing Trustee of Meenakshi Ammal Trust and the Honorable Chancellor of Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research and has headed all the educational activities taken up by the Trust, from setting up schools in rural areas to starting highly technical and advanced colleges, with the aim of making education accessible and affordable to all.

Since its inception in 2003 by late Thirumathi Meenakshi Ammal, a Philanthropist, Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute is dedicated to training doctors in various branches of medicine as experts in Clinical Skills and Knowledge, and has been committed to excellence in Medical Education, Research, Patient care and Community service thereby applying it for Welfare of the community.   

Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute is a private, non-profitable, self-financing Medical Institution, pledged to the service of the community, catering to the health care needs of the people in general and especially to the needy, under privileged and downtrodden section of humanity in particular. 

 
MMCHRI College and Hospital is housed in a sprawling 39 acres of land in the temple city of Kancheepuram .  It is ideally located in salubrious surroundings  in Raasi Nagar, Karrapettai Post, Enathur, Meenakshi Nagar,  Karrapettai Post, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. 

 
The Institute is recognized by Medical Council of India, New Delhi. It has been authorized by NAAC and is graded collectively of the most effective lecturers' universities in India..

 
Under the leadership of late Chancellor, Mr. A.N Radhakrishnan, Meenakshi Medical College continues to move into the twenty first century in leaps and bounds.   MMCHRI, a Multi-campus, Multi-disciplinary Analysis University that has emerged as a pioneer in providing Medical and Health care programs through Internationalization and Innovation in Academic and Research Studies, and offers a full spectrum of UG and PG specialty programs in various disciplies, including MBBS, MD (14 disciplines), MS (5 disciplines), and Super specialty courses M.Ch/DM (4 disciplines) and M.Sc. (3 courses). The sanctioned annual intake to the M.B.B.S. programme is 250 students per year.

 
Meenakshi Medical College is provided with adequate state of art infrastructure in terms of its Blocks of buildings, which include cozy, comfortable and well-furnished Departments, Classrooms, well equipped Department Laboratories, Library, Skill Labs, Central Research Laboratory, Auditorium, Hostels, Sports facilities and separate quarters for Staff and Nurses.  The amenities of the college is backed by highly qualified and experienced Faculty, Excellent Learning resources, Equipment of latest technology and Modern Teaching aids.

 
Free medical service is given to the poor and needy people. Separate rural and urban health training centers have also been established.  At present the attached hospital has 1,200 teaching beds with state-of-the-art Operation Theaters. Besides this there are Intensive Care beds with 24 hours hi-tech Trauma Care facility, serving a wide cross-section of community, belonging to every economic segment of society.

MBBS

• Every student shall undergo a period of certified study extending over 4 years 6 months’ academic years followed by one year compulsory rotating internship
• Admission of students of MMCH&RI is made strictly on merit based on an All India Examination (NEET) as prescribed by the MCI and UGC Regulations and in consistence with the National policy in this behalf from time to time.
• Selection will be made after counseling as per the merit list. Classes will be started in August. The Degrees are awarded by the University for the successful candidates.

Eligibility

• He/She should have completed the Age of 17 Years on or before 31st December of the academic year in which the candidate is seeking admission.
• Candidates belonging to all Categories expect Schedules Caste/ Schedules Tribe for admission to the Course Should have obtained not less than 50% mark in Aggregate in Physics , Chemistry And Biology (Botany/Zoology) Bio Technology at the qualifying Examination (Academic Stream 10 +2 /HSE/PUC) after a period of 12 years study.
• Candidates who have studied abroad, the equivalent qualification as determined by the Association of Indian Universities shall form the guidelines to determine eligibility and should have the passed in the Subjects of Physics Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology) and English up to the 12th standard level with 50% marks aggregate.
• Candidates belonging to Scheduled caste /scheduled tribe, or other Back ward class the minimum marks for admission shall be 40% 50% for General category.

Transport:

The College has a fleet of buses plying from various places of Chennai for the benefit of Students and Staff members. These buses operate along different routes starting from different places approximately between 6.30 and 6.45 a.m. The college provides free transport facility for the Staff members. Special buses are available after college hours for the convenience of the staff and students involved in sports and other activities.
