IMU Admission 2026: Eligibility Criteria
The Indian Maritime University has prescribed separate eligibility requirements for undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes. Candidates must satisfy the academic qualifications, age criteria and medical fitness standards before submitting their applications.
IMU UG Admission Eligibility Criteria (DNS, B.Sc Nautical Science and B.Tech)
1. Candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM).
2. Candidates should have secured at least 50% marks in English either in Class 10 or Class 12.
3. Applicants must possess a valid IMU-CET rank, and candidates applying for seagoing programmes must be unmarried.
4. Maximum age limits are:
o General Category (Male): 25 years
o OBC-NCL (Male): 28 years
o SC/ST (Male): 30 years
o Female candidates receive an additional two years of relaxation in each category as on August 1, 2026.
5. Candidates applying for DNS, B.Sc (Nautical Science), B.Tech (Marine Engineering) and PGDME must fulfil medical and eyesight standards prescribed under the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000, certified by DGS-approved doctors.
6. SC/ST candidates receive a 5% relaxation in PCM marks, although no relaxation is available in English marks. Relevant diploma holders can also seek admission through lateral entry into the second year.
IMU BBA Admission Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must have passed Class 12 or equivalent in any stream with at least 50% aggregate marks.
- A minimum of 50% marks in English in Class 10 or Class 12 is mandatory.
- No entrance examination is required.
- Admission is entirely merit-based on Class 12 marks.
IMU PG Admission Eligibility Criteria
M.Tech Programmes
- BE/B.Tech degree in the relevant discipline with at least 55% aggregate marks.
- Valid IMU-CET, GATE, CUET (PG) or PGCET score.
MBA Programmes
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline with at least 50% aggregate marks.
- Minimum 50% marks in English in Class 10, Class 12 or Graduation.

PGDME Programme
