The list is particularly important because the State Merit Number and eligibility details will play a significant role during the subsequent choice-filling and seat-allocation process.

Punjab MBBS/BDS Round 3 Merit List 2026: What Has Changed?

BFUHS had initially published a provisional merit list on October 4, 2026. Following the consideration of objections, the university released the updated provisional combined merit list on October 5.

The revised list continues to contain 3,307 candidates, but there has been a notable change in the number of candidates classified as eligible for the 85% State Quota seats.

In the revised list, 3,131 candidates have been marked as eligible for the 85% State Quota, while 176 candidates have been marked as not eligible. In comparison, the earlier list had 3,026 candidates marked eligible and 281 marked ineligible.

This means that the eligibility status has changed for 105 candidates following the objection process.

Candidates should therefore check the revised list rather than relying on the earlier version.

Gender-Wise Candidate Details

The Round 3 provisional merit list also provides candidate information including gender, registration number, NEET details and category information.

Of the 3,307 candidates included in the revised list:

  • 2,315 candidates are female

  • 992 candidates are male

The list also contains other important details that candidates can use to verify their counselling credentials.

Details Mentioned in Punjab NEET UG Round 3 Merit List

The provisional merit list provides several details for each participating candidate. These include:

  • State Merit Number

  • Registration Number

  • NEET UG Roll Number

  • NEET UG 2026 marks

  • NEET All India Rank

  • Candidate name

  • Gender

  • Father's name

  • Minority status, wherever applicable

  • Applied category codes

  • Eligibility status for 85% State Quota seats

Candidates should carefully cross-check all these details. Any discrepancy in the candidate's personal information, NEET score, rank, category or state-quota eligibility can have an impact on the counselling process.

Punjab NEET UG 2026 Round 3 NRI Merit List

BFUHS has also released a separate provisional combined merit list for NRI candidates participating in Round 3.

The NRI list contains 10 candidates, divided into two categories.

NRI Category I

There are 6 candidates in Category I. Their NEET scores range from 500 to 231 marks, while their NEET ranks range from 89,616 to 9,04,127.

NRI Category II

Category II contains 4 candidates, with NEET scores ranging from 336 to 284 marks and NEET ranks ranging from 4,62,552 to 6,60,156.

The NRI merit list includes details such as registration number, merit number, NEET roll number, NEET marks, NEET rank, candidate name, gender, father's name and category.

NRI candidates should check the separate list applicable to their category instead of relying solely on the general merit list.

Punjab NEET UG Round 3 Sikh Minority Merit List

A separate verification process has also been completed for candidates seeking admission under the Sikh Minority Quota at Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Amritsar.

According to the Round 3 verification details, 19 candidates reported for physical verification and all 19 were found eligible.

The eligible candidates have NEET scores ranging from 492 to 216 marks, while their NEET ranks range from 1,00,771 to 9,78,539.

Candidates applying under the Sikh Minority category should check the applicable minority eligibility list along with the general Round 3 merit list.

Christian Minority Category Details

The Round 3 counselling process also includes candidates seeking admission under the applicable Christian Minority category.

For the relevant Category 2 Christian Minority with Service Commitment at Christian Medical College and Christian Dental College, Ludhiana, one candidate was listed as eligible following verification.

The candidate has scored 400 marks in NEET UG 2026 and has a NEET rank of 2,73,703.

Punjab NEET UG Round 3 Choice Filling and Seat Allotment

The release of the provisional merit list is an important step, but it does not itself guarantee admission or allotment of a seat.

Candidates must participate in the subsequent counselling stages as per the schedule announced by BFUHS. The university revised the Round 3 schedule in view of the timeline for joining seats allotted through the All India Quota.

Under the revised schedule, candidates were permitted to fill and submit their choices for course, college, quota and category on October 5 and October 6, 2026. The seat-allotment process is scheduled to be conducted on October 7, followed by publication of the provisional allotment result on October 8.

Candidates who have objections to the provisional allotment are required to submit their objections, along with supporting documents, by 3 PM on October 9, 2026, as per the revised schedule.

The revised schedule is particularly important for candidates who are simultaneously participating in the All India Quota counselling process and may become eligible for available Punjab State Quota seats.

What Candidates Should Do After the Merit List Release

Candidates should not treat the release of the merit list as the final stage of counselling. Instead, they should take the following steps:

1. Verify Your State Merit Number

The State Merit Number is an important indicator of a candidate's position in the Punjab counselling process. Candidates should record their merit number for use during choice filling and allotment.

2. Verify NEET Details

Check the NEET UG 2026 marks and All India Rank mentioned in the merit list against the original NEET scorecard.

3. Check Category Codes

Candidates belonging to reserved, minority, NRI or other applicable categories should make sure that the correct category has been reflected.

4. Check State Quota Eligibility

The eligibility column for the 85% Punjab State Quota is particularly important. Candidates should verify whether they have been marked “Yes” or “No”.

5. Participate in Choice Filling

Eligible candidates should submit their preferred colleges and courses within the specified window. Choices should be arranged carefully because seat allotment depends on factors including merit position, preferences, category and seat availability.

6. Monitor the Allotment Result

Candidates should regularly check the counselling portal for the provisional allotment result and subsequent instructions.

7. Keep Documents Ready

Candidates likely to receive an allotment should keep their NEET documents, identity proof, category certificate, domicile-related documents and other admission documents ready for verification.

Does Being on the Provisional Merit List Guarantee an MBBS or BDS Seat?

No.

Being included in the Round 3 provisional merit list means that the candidate is participating in the counselling process and has a merit position. It does not mean that the candidate is guaranteed an MBBS or BDS seat.

Final seat allotment depends on several factors, including:

  • State merit rank

  • NEET UG 2026 rank and score

  • Category

  • Eligibility for the applicable quota

  • College and course preferences

  • Number of available seats

  • Seat matrix

  • Choices submitted by other candidates

  • Applicable Punjab counselling rules

Therefore, candidates should use their merit position to make realistic and well-prioritised college choices.

Punjab NEET UG Counselling 2026: Why Round 3 Is Important

Round 3 can be particularly significant for candidates who could not secure their preferred college in the earlier rounds or who are seeking admission against seats that become available due to withdrawals, upgrades or other changes in the counselling process.

The availability of seats can change considerably between rounds. Candidates who did not receive an allotment previously may therefore have another opportunity in Round 3, subject to their eligibility and the availability of seats.

The revised schedule also takes into account the joining deadline for seats allotted through the All India Quota, making the third round an important stage for candidates considering both AIQ and Punjab State Quota opportunities.
