BMS School of Architecture, the 8th institution under the BMS Educational Trust, has the distinction of being established as an Independent “School of Architecture” in the year 2010. BMSSA is a center of innovation and one of the nation’s few independent architecture schools with a stated mission of being dedicated to educating future generations to be ethical professionals, creative designers and informed citizens.

Located in amidst a green campus in Yelahanka, Bangalore, the school is distinguished by its unique learning environment. BMSSA offers both Graduate and Post Graduate programs in Architecture. With a strength of approximately 500 students and 50 faculty members, the approach adopted by the school is to encourage students to think out of the box and explore the limits of architecture.

A distinctive component of the school are its workshops and guest lectures through which the students are allowed to dabble with different parameters in design and update themselves on the current affairs in the world of architecture. Our national and international study tours give them direct exposure to the miracles of the Masters. BMSSA is inimitable in its active involvement with industries, social groups, networking with other institutions and its responsibility towards the society.

B.Arch Admission Procedure
The admission to BMSSA is through the entrance test, Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Karnataka Government & Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka COMEDK. The students with meritorious ranking are considered for admissions.
A pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination in the first attempt with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as specialization.
A pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination with 45 % marks aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology/ Computer science/ Electronic.
Management Quota Seats should be applied at BMS Educational Trust only.

M.Arch Admission Procedure
The admission to BMSSA is through the entrance test, Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) conducted by Karnataka Government (compulsory for Karnataka domicile candidates). The student should have cleared B.Arch or equivalent examination.
Candidates with valid GATE score will be given first preference for the seat selection in the counseling process, then PGCET rank holders are considered.
Management seats: Meritorious students are considered based on the portfolio and interview.

Ph.D Admission Procedure
The criteria for admission are through synopsis selection, VRAT Test and an interview conducted by VTU for affiliated research centers.
Master's Degree of any recognized University or any other equivalent qualification.
All eligible applicants will be called for a written entrance test which has to be cleared to attend an interview. The admissions will be based on performance in the interview held by VTU.

PLACEMENT CELL

The Training & Placement (T&P) Cell of BMS School of Architecture is the chief facilitator for the students to obtain placements best suited to them and primarily liaisons between Industry and the Institute. The goal of Training & Placement Cell is to provide world class training to BMS School of Architecture students. The Training & Placement Cell is dedicated to motivate and help the student community towards their placement and industrial training. This is done by training students from the first year onwards focusing on motivational skills, communication skills, interpersonal relationships, leadership qualities, group discussions and portfolio making techniques. Additionally, the Cell also provides the required infra-structural facilities to conduct group discussions besides catering to other logistics.

CAMPUS

The overall campus area of BMS School of Architecture is 2.5 acres comprising of 2 blocks, block A and the block B (BS Narayana Block). Collectively these two blocks house studios, lecture halls, workshops, administrative areas, etc.

Block A is of 4610 Sqm and Block B is of 4084 Sqm. The Inauguration for Block B (B S NARAYAN Architecture Block) is inaugurated by Mr. Basavaraj RayaReddy, Minister of Higher Education, GoK on 03.03.2018

ABOUT THE LIBRARY
BMS school of Architecture as an independent college started its Library with 600 Volumes in 2010. Within a span of 5 years, BMSSA Library has grown with more than 4616 Volumes and also National and International Periodicals. Various services and facilities have been initiated for the benefit of students and faculty members.

The primary objective of the library is to support the educational and research programs of the institute and to provide all the information available in the academic to meet the needs of the students, teachers and research scholars by using advanced technology and to create a welcoming and comfortable physical environment.

Secondly to foster an atmosphere that encourages diversity, excellence and continued growth in finding ways to surpass our own high standards.

Students were encouraged to optimally utilize the Library resources and Management awards cash prize to the Best Library User Award winner every academic year since 2013.

Use of e-Resources at BMSSA LIBRARY AND INFORMATION CENTRE: Usage Policy SYSTEMATIC DOWNLOADING OF E-RESOURCES IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

Electronic resources such as e-journals, e-databases, e-books made available BMSSA LIBRARY AND INFORMATION CENTRE are for academic use only.

These resources can be searched, browsed and material may be downloaded and printed as single copies of articles as is done in the case of printed library material. Downloading or printing of a complete book or an entire issue or a volume of one or more journals (called systematic downloading) is strictly prohibited.

Use of robots, spiders or intelligent agents to access, search and/or systematically download from these resources is also prohibited.

Please be aware that systematic downloading will cause the publisher to block to the entire community of users @ BMSSA LIBRARY from accessing these resources.

CONSTRUCTION YARD

Campus
We have a dedicated Construction Yard, to engage students in Live demonstration and hands on learning activities relating to Construction methods and details. Students work alongside their mentors and masons/technicians to learn construction techniques related to their curriculum for the relevant semester.

STUDY TOUR

Study tours are compulsory and an integral part of academics. BMSSA annually organizes 10 day guided National and International tours and Mid semester weekend trips for the students according to their curricular requirements, which presents them with an opportunity to understand basic structural forms, architectural history and cultural significance of the built forms first hand.

The study tours are also pre-planned to cover certain aspects of the curriculum through a first hand experience of the region especially for Architectural Design, History or Contemporary Architecture and Vernacular or sustainability techniques.

A few documentation trips to nearby heritage sites are also organized to develop a deeper understanding about the history, structure, culture and planning principles of the structures.

SPORTS
The college encourages the students to take part in various sport activities. The campus infrastructure has many indoor and outdoor sports facilities for the conveyance of the students. Our students and staff participate in various state and national level sport competetions and have won many prizes.

Various facilities are shared with BMSIT to offer additional conveniences to all students.

The Shared sports area with BMSIT Campus is about 2.5 acres with adequate space earmarked for fields to play outdoor games like Hand Ball, Throw Ball, Badminton, Volley Ball, Net Ball, Cricket, Football and Basketball Ball. There is also a Shared facility to play indoor games such as Chess, Table Tennis among others. There are various fee concessions awarded to represent the College at National & International events. Financial awards are given from the sports fund for Gold medallist/Best sports person selected by University.

Other Facilities include a well equipped Gymnasium shared with BMSIT Campus, an indoor auditorium and one open air auditoria. Spaces are also provided for Placement Cell, Counselling room and Health Centre shared with BMSIT campus.

The college campus houses a well maintained Canteen which serves food round the clock during college hours. There is a also a stationery shop which provides necessary stationery dedicated to architecture students.
