Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology, formerly known as Vel Tech Dr. RR & Dr.SR University and commonly referred to as Vel Tech, is a Private Deemed Institute, located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 1997 by Founders Dr. R. Rangarajan and Dr. Sagunthala Rangarajan.Vel Tech Campus area is spread over 66.75 acres of land located in the Outer Ring Road in West Chennai, on the Avadi-Vel Tech Road, Vel Nagar, Avadi, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology is Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and became a Deemed university in 2008. It is recognized as an 'A++' Grade institution by the NAAC. The Institute is also accredited by the NBA and recognized by the AICTE. Vel Tech was ranked 83 among the engineering colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2022. The Institute is recognized by CDIO, The Association of Commonwealth Universities and University Industry Innovation Network.

As a part of its Academic activities, Vel Tech has adapted the new pedagogical process called "Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate" (CDIO) approach. The Institution is the first member from India to implement and practice CDIO methodology. CDIO imbibed syllabus helps the students to acquire professional, personal and inter-personal skills systematically. The Institute also adopts Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) which gives the student's flexibility to take up the course of their choice and learn at their own pace.

Admission Procedure:

Admissions for 2025 at Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology (Vel Tech University) are now open for a variety of courses. The university offers programs at the UG, PG, and PhD levels in fields such as Engineering, Technology, Science, Management, Law, and Commerce. Vel Tech admissions are based on both merit and entrance exams, including its own in-house exam (VTUEEE) as well as State and national-level tests like GATE,TANCET,CLAT and LSAT. Applications for Vel Tech admissions are accepted online only.

B.Tech:

B.Tech - Admissions are on the basis of VTUEEE and can be done online or offline. The college also accepts Direct admissions and Lateral entry admissions

VTUEEE - Online

• Candidates can register by providing the basic information.
  
• Registered Candidates will receive an email notification to their registered email id with their application number, password and the link to complete the application form.
  
• Cost of the Application is Rs.950/- (non-refundable). Payment can be done via net banking /Debit card/ Credit card.
  
• Kindly keep scanned copy of all the documents required handy, while filling in the application form. Documents required: Colored passport size photograph & candidate’s signature, uploading size is limited to 100 KB.
  
• On successful completion of the form and payment you can download the online application form.

VTUEEE - Offline:

Ph.D Admission Process:

• Candidates should have a Master’s degree (M.Tech/M.S./M.Sc./M.A.) with at least 55% marks. Exemptions apply for candidates with valid scores in GATE/UGC-NET/CSIR-JRF.
