Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology was established in the year 2001 under the auspices of Sri Channabasaveshwara Swamy Rural Education Society (CRED Society) with the objective of providing quality technical education. The society was established in 2000 under the Chairmanship of Sri G.S.Basavaraj, the honourable Member of Parliament from Tumkur with a vision to create Centres of Excellence in education and other related fields and to serve the society to enhance the quality of life through Excellence and Leadership in professionally relevant education.

CIT is set in a sprawling 25.5 acres spread across 60 acres of lush green land with beautiful land scaping on N.H. 206, B.H. Road, Gubbi (Near Bangalore), Tumakuru, Karnataka. The Institute is located 80 KM from Bangalore and enjoys a pleasant atmosphere throughout the year.

Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and Recognized by Government of Karnataka. The institute is ISO 9001:2008 Certified and is also Accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

The Institute offers UG, PG and Doctoral programs in the fields of Engineering and Management. It offers Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in 7 disciplines. It has MTech Degree offered in 2 disciplines as well as an MBA course. CIT also offers PhD in 6 different areas of Science and Engineering. For admission into the BE courses is on the basis of the KCET, COMEDK entrance exam. For MTech, the candidates must appear for PGCET/GATE and MBA admissions are based on the scores obtained in PGCET/KMAT/MAT.

CIT Tumkur Scholarship

Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology, Tumkur offers scholarships to meritorious and needy students. CIT Tumkur scholarship department assists students in seeking scholarships from both government and private organisations. Candidates aspiring for CIT Tumkur scholarships have to meet the required eligibility criteria. CLASSROOMS

The classrooms are spread across 3 buildings. Each classroom is well lit and can accommodate more than 80 students. The seating arrangement is such that the students can get an unhindered view of the faculty and teaching aids from all sides. CIT has brought technology into most of the classrooms for effective presentation of course material. Many of the classrooms are equipped with ceiling mounted LCD projector.

AUDITORIUM

A well furnished auditorium which can accommodate more than 500 students is centrally located on the campus. The auditorium is routinely used for guest lectures, technical seminars, pre-placement training and extra-curricular activities.

BOARDROOM

IA state-of-the-art well furnished boardroom is located in the Administrative block. Although, the boardroom is primarily used to host meetings with dignitaries, it is also used as a podium for presentations and interactions with invited speakers and our own Post-graduate students.

CIT has provided adequately furnished and lighted study huts inside the lush green and scenic campus amongst the shady trees, keeping in mind the pleasure in learning for the student.

INDOOR FACILITIES

The institution has spacious indoor facilities: Table tennis, chess, Carom in the department of physical education. Two Badminton courts are located in Amphi Theatre.

The hostel students and college students are utilizing facilities from 4PM to 7PM.

FITNESS CENTRE – GYM

The gym is well equipped with a multi-gym, a range of free weights and aerobic equipment. The gym is great for building strength, burning fat, improving general fitness, or for specific sports conditioning. The gym is open to all members of CIT. The college gym is maintained by the department of physical education. The faculties, hostel and college students are utilizing facilities from 4PM to 8PM.

Library
Library is the Heart of the Institution. It is a resource centre for Teaching, learning and Research. It is housed in 1st floor of the CRC building. It has 890.28 sq ft. carpet area spread with various sections like; Textbooks Lending Area, Reference Section, Digital Library, Current Periodicals and Reprographic centre, Staff Reading Area, Discussion Room, and Librarian Office. The Library is having a collection of 67948 Volumes and 9220 Titles,Encyclopeadias, Dictionaries, Competitive exam books etc.The Reference section is having a seating capacity of 164 users at a time. Digital library is having a collection of CD/DVD resource, e-books, e-journals, previous years Question papers. It has access to online resources through VTU-Consortium with IEEE, Springer, Science Direct, Taylor& Francis, McGraw hill, New Age International, Emerald, Proquest and also has Institutional Membership with DELNET.

CIT PHC
(Primary Health Centre)
C.I.T PHC is the first contact point between the C.I.T FAMILY and the Medical Officer. The PHCs were envisaged to provide an integrated curative and preventive health care to the college and school population with emphasis on preventive and promotive aspects of health care. The PHCs are established and maintained by the C.I.T Management under the Minimum Needs Programme (MNP)/ Basic Minimum Services Programme (BMS). As per minimum requirement, a PHC is to be manned by a Medical Officer supported by 1 paramedical and other staff. It acts as a referral unit for the whole Campus. It has 2 beds for patients. The activities of PHC involve curative, preventive, promotive, and Family Welfare Services.

Total patient visits yearly with an average of 600 patients per year. All the database of visitors is managed well with a register book.

Dr. Ayesha N Presented the talk about the Importance of Unani Medicine and best practice of Unani medicines for the “Grass root exploration program by students of v school” facilitated by the M.B.A Department dated on 11th Feb 2020 to 14th Feb 2020.

Our Goals & Principles
The ultimate goal of primary healthcare is the attainment of better health services for all. It is for this reason that the World Health Organization (WHO), has identified five key elements to achieving this goal: reducing exclusion and social disparities in health (universal coverage reforms).

TRANSPORTATION

Our Institute owns several buses that operate from various parts of the city to the campus for the benefit of staff and students. A total of 10 buses pick up students and staff from several centralized locations in the city close to many residential neighborhoods. Students and staff are utilizing the precious commute time to discuss / debate various topics ranging from current news, academics, research and project work.
