Government College of Engineering, Bodinayakanur Tamil Nadu was established in the year 2012 as Government Educational Institute to provide higher education to build a career in the field of Engineering. It was started in a temporary building at Kalapandiyan Polytechnic College, Sillamarathupatti, Bodinayakkanur. The permanent building was later inaugurated by then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Dr.J.Jayalalitha on 12-06-2015 through Video Conferencing for the welfare of the students of Western Tamilnadu.

The Campus of Bodhinayakanur Government College of Engineering covers an area of 10.06 acres on the Palayam-Bodi Road, Near B.Renganathapuram, Bodinayakkanur Talluk, Theni District, Melachokkanathapuram, Tamil Nadu. The College is located at the heart of the “Cardamom City” proudly called as the city of “South Kashmir” by the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru.

Government College of Engineering, Bodinayakkanur, is approved by the reputed AICTE, and is affiliated with Anna University, Chennai. Management of Government College of Engineering, Bodinayakanur is working under Dr. S. Palanichamy - Principal.

GCE, Bodinayakkanur was started with five BE courses namely Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electricals & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering each with an intake of 60 students. At present the college is successfully functioning with a total number of 1131 students. They are taught and trained by more than 50 permanent Professors who are well-qualified and experienced.

Government College of Engineering, Bodinayakkanur has some of the best infrastructural facilities and amenities like Library, Hostel, Gym, Auditorium, Workshop buildings, Basketball Court, Canteen and Guest house, well equipped Laboratories, modern Digital Library, Computer Center, Department Laboratory, facilities for Sports & Games and Co-curricular activities.

The high quality infrastructure provided by GCE, Bodhinayakkanur, coupled with well qualified Faculty members who impart Student-centric Teaching-Learning process assist the students to choose and achieve what they want. Other extra Facilities include Placement Assistance, Anti-Ragging Committee, Scholarships, and much more.

The high quality infrastructure, well qualified faculty members, well equipped laboratories, modern library facilities, facilities for sports & games and co-curricular activities, coupled with student centric teaching-learning process assist the students to choose and achieve what they want.

Students have to clear their 10+2 exam with 65% marks on the main subject should be Math, Physics, and Chemistry to get admission in this college.

he placement opportunities here are little low.job opportunities are really rare.instead of getting placed passed out students here apply for exams conducted by government for government jobs and join as a government servant.no,our College doesn't provide internship

Boys Hostel
The college has a boys hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students. The boy’s hostel is 1Km away from the College campus is situated inside the College campus. The administration of the hostel is looked after by the deputy wardens, and the individual responsibilities will be notified at the appropriate time to the Warden. Admission to the hostel is strictly subject to this condition. Hostel Rules may change from time to time. Hostel administration has the right to change the rules if required. Parents and guardians of the Hostel Residents are most welcome to way from the College campus is of hostlers with the wardens. The cooperation of parents and guardians in this regard is solicited.
Girls Hostel
The college has a girl's hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students. The girl’s hostel behavior inside the College campus. The administration of the hostel is looked after by the deputy wardens, and the individual responsibilities will be notified at the appropriate time to the Warden. Admission to the hostel is strictly subject to this condition. Hostel Rules may change from time to time. Hostel administration has the right to change the rules if required. Parents and guardians of the Hostel Residents are most welcome to discuss the progress and behavior of hostlers with the wardens. The cooperation of parents and guardians in this regard is solicited.

The college has a Gym facility for the students.
Library
This College has a well-equipped library that has 16600 volumes of books in 8555 titles on different disciplines covering all major fields. The Library subscribes to 23 National and 31 International periodicals and 9 E-Journals. The library is also having Educational Audio & Video Cassettes, CDs, Back Volumes, Project Reports, Thesis reports, etc. Apart from studies related to books, a number of Text guides are available in the reference section (to equip oneself) for competitive exams like GRE, Civil Service Exam, TOEFL, Defence Service exam.

The college has a canteen facility for staff and students. Reduction in mess bill on account of absence from mess will be allowed only if prior permission in writing has been obtained from the warden-in-charge of the mess and handed over in advance to the mess managers.
