Government Medical College, Ernakulam Kerala was established in the year 2000 as Government Educational Institute to provide higher education to build a career in the field of Medical and Paramedical. Government Medical College is approved by the reputed MCI, and is affiliated with KUHS, Thrissur. Management of Government Medical College, Ernakulam is working under Dr. V.K. Sreekala (Principal).Government Medical College Ernakulam (GMCE) is one of the premier medical institutions in Kerala, known for its excellence in medical education, research, and healthcare. The college was initially governed by the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education (CAPE), an initiative of the Government of Kerala.

On December 17, 2013, the institution was formally taken over by the Government of Kerala and is now entirely managed under state administration. Admission Procedure

Admission Criteria

Eligibility:

• Candidate must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as core subjects.

• Minimum qualifying marks as per NEET-UG norms.

Entrance Exam:

• Admission is through NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) conducted by NTA.

Counselling:

• Kerala MBBS/BDS admissions are conducted through KEAM (Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical) counselling under the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala.

• Allotments are made based on NEET score, preferences, and reservation criteria.

1. Eligibility: MBBS degree recognized by MCI/NMC and completion of internship.

2. Entrance Exam: Admission through NEET-PG.

3. Counselling: Conducted by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) or CEE Kerala for state quota seats.

• After completion of the MBBS program, students must undergo a 1-year Compulsory Rotatory Internship at the attached hospital or recognized centers.

• The internship provides hands-on exposure across departments.

• Graduates are eligible for government postings, postgraduate studies, and opportunities in private or public healthcare sectors.
