To meet the challenges in the rapidly diversifying field of media and mass communication, the Government of Rajasthan took the momentous decision of establishing Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication (HJU). Constituted through the State Legislature's Act No. 11 of 2019, HJU is mandated to fill the gap in media education through teaching, training and research in journalism, mass communication and allied fields.

Our emphasis is to extend education beyond class-room teaching by organising seminars, talks, dialogues, workshops and inter-active sessions on Language, Law, Human Rights, Constitution and Citizen’s Rights, Science-Technology and Society, Environment, Climate Change, Gender Studies and Fake News. HJU seeks to create not only a new generation of competent media and communication professionals but also shape them as politically and socially sensitive and upright future media leaders of India.

The university is located in the excellent environs of Jaipur, a historical city and the capital of Rajasthan.

Admission

HJUJ offers Master of Journalism in two specializations namely; Media studies and Electronic media. In addition to it, the Master of Mass Communication is also offered in Public relations and Advertising.

·         Candidate with graduate degree in any discipline can apply for the postgraduate courses

·         Admission to the postgraduate courses are done on the basis of entrance examination, conducted by the university.

·         The entrance examination papers are available both in English and Hindi

HJUJ MJMS and MJEM Admission 2024

Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication offers Master of Journalism in the following two specializations

·         Master of Journalism in Media studies (MJMS)

·         Master of Journalism in Electronic Media (MJEM)

The admission process for all the courses will commence from the month of April. The applicant can download the application, fill and send it to the university office along with the required documents and application fee.

The selection process for Master of Journalism is mainly based on entrance test held by the university, and the academic record of the qualifying examination. As a basic eligibility, the candidate should be a graduate in any discipline with minimum 50% marks in the qualifying examinations.

Key points for admission:

• Candidates applying from outside of Rajasthan should have completed graduation in any discipline with minimum 60% marks
• Reservations are considered as per State Government norms
• The entrance test papers are available both in English and Hindi
• The duration of the test is 120 minutes and the paper consists of objective type questions
• The merit list of selected candidates will be published on the university website

HJUJ Master of Mass Communication Admission 2024

HJUJ has introduced a Master degree program in Mass Communication with specialization in Public Relations and Advertising. It is a two-year program and the admission process for the academic year commences in the month of April.

Candidates applying for the course should be a graduate in any discipline with minimum 50% marks (45% marks for SC/ST candidates) in the qualifying examination or any equivalent examination recognized by the University. Whereas, the other-state candidates should have secured 60% marks for eligibility.

The admission criteria for the course are based on the entrance test results and the percentage obtained in the qualifying examinations. Interested candidates should fill the application form through the official university website and qualify the entrance test conducted by the University.

The application form for all the courses will be available for download along with the prospectus on the institute website.

Steps for Application:

• Download the application for the respective course
• Fill the application form with all the required details
• Attach the required documents with the completed application form
• Attach the Demand Draft for the prescribed application fee as mentioned in the prospectus
• Demand draft must be drawn in favor of ‘‘The Registrar, HJUJ, Jaipur’’.
• Send the application form along with the necessary documents and DD to the university office at Information Centre or Academic Centre

Placements

Basic Information About The Training & Placement

The students will have a right to scholarships/ financial aid provided by central government/ state government/ other agencies.

This right will be acceptable only within the framework of the rules pertaining to the concerned scheme regarding the scholarship/financial aid.

Library

The library in the university is a treasure house of information and knowledge, which plays an important role in the development of students and teachers. Haridev Joshi University will emerge as a center of excellence on the strength of its rich library, which will store rare works, old magazines, and the latest books and other audio-visual material on media. This library will not only provide dense textual material for students, researchers, and teachers but also reference journals and research journals. Her books and other material related to media will be available on other subjects including law, history, communication research, cinema studies, developmental environmental issues, advertising, and public relations. Hindi and English newspapers, as well as periodicals, can also be read in the library.

A library venture has also been undertaken by the library to collect books and audio-visual material with public support. Useful material has been invited from a collection of eminent journalists. The founder-vice-chancellor of the university, Om Thanvi, has contributed one thousand works from his personal library and collection of cinema, etc. About one thousand books have been received in collaboration with India International Center. Similarly, important books and reference material are being received from many journalists, which are otherwise unavailable now.
