Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, commonly known as JNCASR, is located in Bengaluru city of Karnataka. It is a multidisciplinary research institute and a deemed to be university established in the year 1989. The centre was founded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to commemorate the birth centenary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It was envisioned to promote advanced scientific research and high quality education in frontier and interdisciplinary areas of science and engineering, with Prof C N R Rao playing a key role as the founding president.
