About University

The Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon (Formerly known as North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon) established on 15th August, 1990 under the Maharashtra Universities Act, XXIX of 1989, started its academic and administrative functioning from the academic year 1991-92. Within the span of 3 years, the University is recognized under section 2 (f) in 1991 and 12 (B) in 1994 under the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956. The jurisdiction of the University is extended over three districts i.e. Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar, a pre-dominantly tribal and rural area of Khandesh region. The University has opened it’s doors of higher education to mostly “first generation learners” of this area. Access, equity and academic excellence are the thrust areas of the University’s educational endeavor. Presently, Prof. V. L. Maheshwari is the Vice-Chancellor. Following Vice-Chancellors have successfully shouldered the responsibility of the University in the past.

The University is well equipped with excellent physical infrastructural facilities like – majestic administrative, examination and library buildings, separate buildings for each School/Institute, adequate classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, state-of-art research facilities, a senate hall, convocation auditorium, sports facilities with indoor stadium, health center, guest house, Shikshak Bhavan, VVIP guest house, Hostels, Staff quarters, Central School (Kendriya Vidyalaya), Library, Post Office, Bank, ATM, Shopping Complex which are sufficient enough to satisfy almost all kinds of needs of teaching/non-teaching staff, students, researchers and stakeholders. This physical infrastructure is the asset of the University which is created within a short span of 24 years.

The University has signed various MoU’s with national/international organizations as well as Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Ltd., to take a step towards a digital University. Campus Area Networking, SAP-ERP and BI software for smooth functioning of finance and administration, INFLIBNET programme, EduSat, generation of patents, a model examination system, e-suvidha, students facilitation center, emphasis on value education through the Department of Ambedkar Thoughts and School of Thoughts, focus on research and community outreach programmes are some of the steps that we have initiated to make our students sustainable global citizens.

NMU Jalgaon Admission Process

Admissions are available for undergraduate, postgraduate diploma, postgraduate, M.Phil, and Ph.D. programmes at Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University. B.Sc. Actuarial Science programme is based on merit scores. Candidates are chosen for admission to the M.Sc., and M.A. programmes and other courses at Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University based on their qualifying exam merit score. Candidates who want to be admitted to the M.Tech programme at NMU Jalgaon must take the GATE exam.  Selection for the qualified candidates will be made according to merit. NMU Jalgaon admission to the PhD programme is based on an entrance exam and appearing for an interview.

NMU Jalgaon M.E/M.Tech Course Admission Process

·         Candidates must satisfy the requirements.

·         Aspirants must next show up for the GATE exam, which is given by the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

·         The cutoff will be made public, and the result will be announced.

·         Students must receive at least 80% on the entrance exam.

·         Educatees then need to complete the university application form.

·         The GATE merit scores will be used to select candidates.

·         If there aren't enough GATE-qualified applicants, the university will administer the entrance exam and perform the personal interview.

·         In this situation, candidates will be chosen based on their performance in the interview and university entrance exam.

·         Finally, the chosen candidates must turn in the required paperwork and pay the fees.

Central Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students

The National Merit Scholarship Scheme, the objective of which was to provide financial assistance to meritorious students studying from Class XI to Post- Graduation level in Government Schools/Colleges and Universities has been discontinued with effect from 1.4.2007. However, a new Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students has been introduced during XI Five Year Plan. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from poor families to meet a part of their day-to-day expenses while pursuing higher studies. The Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students is covered under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Programme of the Government of India, scholarships are disbursed directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. For more information click here: 

Scholarship Scheme

Scholarships/Free ships are provided to the candidate belonging to SC, OBC, NT, SBC categories as per the rules of Social Welfare Department, Government of Maharashtra. ST category candidates are provided with Scholarships/Free ships as per the rules of Tribal Development Department, Government of Maharashtra.

• Boys Hostel

  NMU Jalgaon boys hostel facilities include 24X7 security systems, mess  and other necessary basic facilities for the comfortable accommodation of the outstation students. The hostel rooms are well-ventilated, well-furnished and well-lit with hygienic toilets and bath facilities. Some single rooms of the hostels are reserved for the students for various research work.

• Girls Hostel

  Mess, common room with TV, reading hall, RO, water cooler, solar heater, indoor games, first-aid, ambulance, fire extinguisher, etc are available in the NMU Jalgaon girls hostel. The hostel rooms are equipped with all the basic facilities and have single rooms reserved especially for research students and triple seated rooms for postgraduate students.

• Medical/Hospital

  The university has a separate building for providing medical facilities. Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University medical clinic facilities include modern and sophisticated healthcare tools, medical officers, etc. The medical facility is provided free of cost.

• Library

  NMU Jalgaon library is a five-storied building and is well stocked with numerous textbooks and reference books. The library also has an e-section, archives section and photocopying facility. The library uses a bar code facility for issuing the books to the students. Students have digital I-card for accessing the library facilities.

• Sports

  The university sports department provides both indoor and outdoor games. The university has an eight-lane running track, kabaddi, football and hockey grounds, basketball, tennis, volleyball, badminton courts. Fields and courts are maintained regularly. 

• I.T Infrastructure

  The university IT infrastructure manages the networking of the entire campus. The campus is enabled with both wireless and wired networking facilities. The computer labs are equipped with the latest computers.

• Cafeteria

  The university cafeteria provides hygienically prepared fresh meals at reasonable prices. The cafeteria facility can be availed by both the students and staff members.

  Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University gym facilities include multi-stationed equipment. Students can work out in their free time for a healthy body and mind.

• Guest Room/Waiting Room

  The guest house is located on the top floor of the campus and provides a stay facility to VVIPs, VIPs, semi VIPs along with a general suit. NMU Jalgaon guest house facilities include a well-furnished dining cum multipurpose hall, kitchen, gardens, lush green lawns, etc.

• Auditorium

  NMU Jalgaon auditorium is a large hall equipped with air-conditioners. The auditorium is used for multipurpose activities like organising seminars, events and convocation ceremonies.

• Laboratories

  NMU Jalgaon has departmental laboratories. NMU Jalgaon laboratories facilities include modern instruments and apparatus for doing practicals.

• Parking Facility

  Two-wheeler and three-wheeler parking facility is available on the campus. The parking facility can be used by students, staff and faculty members.

Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon is situated 10 Kms away from Jalgaon City. Georgraphically, Jalgaon district is situated at the North side of Maharashtra State. You can reach Jalgaon city by different modes of transportation and from there you can land to the campus by local transport. One can opt for local bus transport or auto rickshaw to reach University campus from Jalgaon city. 

The town of Jalgaon can be easily reached through buses and trains, and these are the locally preferred modes of travel in the region. Jalgaon has a lot of direct buses and trains.
