KC College was established in 1954 under the aegis of the Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate Board.

• The college has been re-accredited with an A grade by NAAC in three consecutive cycles. and adjudged the Best College (Urban Area) by the University of Mumbai in 2015.In 2019, the college was awarded Star College Status and Star Scheme by the Dept. of Biotechnology, Govt. of India.

ADMISSION PROCESS:

Admissions to all the UG and PG courses are done on the basis of merit as per the HSNC University, Mumbai guidelines. Cutoff for the UG courses at KC College ranges from 90 to 100 percent, depending on the category and courses. Ph.D. admissions are based on the entrance test which is further followed by a personal interview conducted by the college. 

Kishinchand Chellaram College, Mumbai, offers undergraduate level degree courses to eligible candidates in the disciplines of Arts, Commerce, Science, Mass Media and Management Studies. The institute conducts B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com courses with various specializations, including a Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM) and a Bachelor degree in Management Studies (BMS) programs. It also offers a BA Journalism program with specialization in Film, TV, New Media and Production.

The College currently offers a M.A. program in Hindi, M.Sc. (Papers) programs in Microbiology, IT and Chemistry, M.Sc. (Research) courses in Microbiology and Chemistry, an M.Com. program with specialization in Advance Accountancy, and a MA Journalism program with specializations in Communication & Journalism, and Entertainment, Media & Advertising.

The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these courses is a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant or allied disciplines from a recognized institute (or university). Selection of candidates is done on the basis of merit, subject to meeting all eligibility criteria specified for the concerned program.

The application process for admission to degree courses offered by Kishinchand Chellaram College is as per University of Mumbai guidelines. Prospective candidates can register online through the University of Mumbai website. The detailed process of application if as follows:

• Candidates must navigate to the online application page and create a Username and Password by hitting the “Register” button. 
• All requisite particulars in the registration form must be filled correctly.
• The applicant must choose Kishinchand Chellaram College as the preferred choice of college in the registration form.
• After online submission of the application form, candidate must take printouts of the Submission Copy and the Student Copy.
• The submission copy has to be attached to the admission form of KC College, and the Student Copy must be retained by candidate for future correspondence.
• The admission form for KC College can be obtained by contacting the institute in person.
• Candidate is required to enter valid phone number and email address for communication purpose.
• Candidates from outside-Maharashtra Boards will have to fill in provisional eligibility form in the institute office before payment of fees.

Kishinchand Chellaram College, caters to all basic educational branches, with possibly all subjects in each branch. The span of education is from undergraduate to doctoral courses. Hence the placement cell of K C College deals with a variety of job profiles demanded by employers.

We at the placement cell of K C College offer internship (limited time/vacation period)  to permanent placement on a small scale to MNC. The process is through the tie-ups with several companies which regularly (yearly) conduct the campus placement drive or a pool selection process.

• The registration for students is opened in the month of June every year.
• The students are supposed to fill in the simple excel form or register on line
• The student will be issued a permanent placement registration number
• The student submits the CV to placement cell and can update it number of times and the placement cell will record it on regular basis in the data bank.
• Through the correspondence or enquiry the employers are contacted to know the available vacancies with them.
• Once the employer informs the requirements of a particular position with desired qualification and skills, all suitable candidates from the registered students data bank are forwarded the information
• The students are given the choice whether to apply for that position or not.
• Unless the student gives confirmation no information of the student is forwarded to the employers. This is done only and only to avoid misuse of the data (mobile number / emails etc).

• The employer once get the list of interested candidates for the position are offered the infrastructural facilities like class room for written test, computer lab for online test, seminar room for pre placement talk and cabin for interview.
• After the selection drive the employer informs the candidates as well as the placement cell regarding the selection.
• The placement cell follows –up with both students and employers for the actual appointment of the candidates.

The students can appear for as many selection processes as they want till they get into agreement and accept the appointment from a particular employer. Once they accept one position they can appear for next company with prior intimation to the already accepted employer.

The college provides scholarships to the financially-constrained and deserving candidates. Kishinchand Chellaram College scholarships can also be availed by SC, ST, OBC, SBC and other reserved category candidates. Some of the scholarships are discussed in detail below.

1. SC Scholarship- This scholarship is awarded to the students with annual family income up to Rs. 2.5 lakhs. SC Freeship is awarded to the students with annual family income above Rs. 2,50,001 lakhs.

2. National Merit Scholarship- To avail this scholarship, candidates should have minimum 85% marks in the last examination with annual family income up to Rs. 25,000.

Kishinchand Chellaram College provides ample facilities for the students for their overall growth and development. KC College Mumbai facilities include a library, sports, cafeteria, auditorium, medical/hospital, IT infrastructure, classrooms, laboratories, etc. Numerous resources are available in the library to support the learning and research work of the students and faculty members. The college has a well-ventilated cafeteria.
