KLS Vishwanathrao Deshpande Rural Institute of Technology, familiar as VDIT Institute is a Private Un-aided co-ed college situated in Uttara Kannada, It was established in the year 2004 under the aegis of Karnatak Law Society (KLS) which was started in 1938 with the goal of making legal education accessible to citizens of North Karnataka.
Karnatak Law Society having established a number of institutions in the city of Belagavi which have been identified as “Quality Educational Institutions” started Vishwanathrao Deshpande Institute of Technology(VDIT) at Haliyal in 2004-05 by the initiation and support of Shri R V Deshpande former minister Government of Karnataka. Today, KLS has the distinction of running a number of Schools and Colleges in the fields of Law, Commerce, Engineering and Management Education and all its Institutions have earned reputation of being as leading institutions in Karnataka.
The KLS VDIT is located on a vast green 26 acre sprawling campus, cradled by a picturesque landscape at Udyog Vidya Nagar, Dandeli Road, Haliyal, Karnataka. The nearest Railway Station is Haliyal Railway Station, providing convenient access for students and visitors. The Haliyal Bus stand serves as the primary bus transportation hub for the region. The nearest airport is the Kempegowda International Airport located in Bangalore.
KLS Vishwanathrao Deshpande Institute of Technology, Haliya is Affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgavi. The institute is Recognized by AICTE, New Delhi. It is also Accredited by NBA and NAAC. VDIT is under the NIRF Ranking.
VDIT offers various courses in UG, PG and Doctoral Levels in the fieldof Engineering. It offers B.E. in 6 disciplines, MTech in 2 disciplines and PhD in 4 disciplines. Admissions to these courses are based on Entrance exams scores. For UG programs the accepted exams are COMEDK UGET/KCET and for PG courses it is GATE/Karnataka PGCET exams.
Within a short span of time VDIT has developed Top-class infrastructural facilities and a conducive academic environment to train the students to overcome the challenges of the rapid changing techno-economic scenario.
