NIE Institute of Technology (NIEIT), Mysore
The NIE Institute of Technology is a private Technical Institute located in Mysore. It was established in 1946 and granted autonomy in 2007 from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. NIEIT is managed by a registered society and nine out of ten current directors are distinguished alumni of the institute. It is one of the 14 colleges in Karnataka that has been recognized under MHRD-World Bank sponsored Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) in all the three phases.
NIEIT operates from 2 Campuses - South Campus situated on Manandavadi Road, Vidyaranyapura, Mysuru, Karnataka and North Campus located at No.50 (Part), Koorgalli village, Hootagalli Industrial Area, Mysuru, Karnataka. The South Campus set in 12 acres of land is located approximately 2 km to Ashokapuram Railway Station. The Mysore City Bus Stand is 3.5 km away and the Mysore Airport is about 10 km from the college.
NIE Institute of Technology is affiliated to VTU, Belagavi and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. It has been accredited by NAAC and NBA. All the Departments of NIEIT are recognized as Research Centre under VTU and AICTE for QIP. The Institute is a grant-in-aid institution and has been recognized and approved by UGC, New Delhi and Government of Karnataka. NIE is been ranked in the band of 151 to 200, among top engineering colleges in the country that include IITs and NITs as per National Institution Ranking Framework (NIRF-2023) announced by Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD). It is ranked 17th among India’s top Engineering Colleges, as per survey conducted by The Week.
Currently, NIEIT offers UG, PG and Doctoral programs in two Campuses i.e. NIE North Campus and NIE South Campus. The courses offered at North Campus are Computer Science & Engineering, Information Science & Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning), and Master of Computer Applications. Mechanical, Civil, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communications, BE, MTech and MCA programs are offered in South Campus. Candidates clearing CET/COMEDK/JEE entrance examinations KCET conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority are eligible for admissions to UG courses. PG admissions are offered to candidates who hold a BE/B.Tech degree from a recognised board and also a valid score in GATE, Karnataka PGCET. Admissions to Ph.D courses are offered to candidates who hold a Master’s degree from a recognised board. NIEIT subscribes to the directives of the Government of Karnataka and AICTE every academic year while granting admissions.
For those candidates who have performed exceptionally but may not have the resources to pursue an education at NIEIT, There is a scholarship program that can cover a portion of the tuition fee.
NIE Institute of Technology provides various facilities to the students which include well-stocked Library, modern Classrooms, Sports facilities, Medical facilities and many more essential infrastructural amenities.
Faculty has been the main strength of NIEIT. They impart their vast knowledge to the students by using conventional methods of teaching-learning process as well as contemporary ones.
To enrich Research and Consultancy activities, 15 Centers of Excellence have been set up in collaboration with Industries and Alumni. These Centers provide opportunities for students to fine tune their skills as per the expectation of Industries and offer Consultancy Services. Many funded Research projects of Central & State Governments, VTU and Overseas Universities are presently being carried out at NIEIT.
The campus life at NIEIT is complemented by quality housing for boys and girls. The Sports and Cultural activities at NIEIT are the high point of campus life,providing the right ambience for all round development of the students coupled with Academic rigor.
NIEIT Career Guidance Cell provides for establishing Career Guidance Cell in assisting students in realizing their aptitudes/potential, training them to hone and supplement their aptitudes/potentials, match them with the available careers and bring in Companies to select them and place them. The robust NIEIT Training and Placement Cell benefits the student immensely with all its Placement activities. However, the work of Career Guidance Cell will precede the work of Training and Placement Cell and will fill in the gap of helping the students to understand their potentials and matching them to needs and expectations of the industry. The graduates are routinely placed in some of the biggest and most iconic technology companies in the world.
