About College 

N S S College of Engineering, Palakkad is one of the most reputed, premier engineering educational institution in Kerala affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. It was established in 1960 by Nair Service Society under the leadership of late Bharatha Kesari Mannathu Padmanabhan, during the second five year plan with the assistance of the Central and State Government under the grant-in-aid scheme. The college has an enviable heritage and legacy of grooming brilliant engineering professionals who later made their mark in industrial and other sectors of the country and abroad. At present, the institution offers B.Tech degree courses in six branches and M.Tech degree courses in Communication Engineering, Power Electronics, Computer Science & Engineering, Structural Engineering, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, and Biomedical Engineering. The College is an approved research Place of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University.
Situated in NSS Nagar at Akathethara, 9 km from Palakkad town, the Campus is easily accessible, being only 4 km from the Palakkad Railway Junction, and is only 5 km from the renowned Malampuzha Gardens. Spread over 125 acres, the college includes an administrative block, separate blocks for each department, a library block and four hostels including one for ladies. Nestling among verdant foothills, the institution is a tranquil and serene setting for higher education.

NSS College of Engineering B.Tech Admission Procedure

• Candidates must first meet the eligibility criteria for NSSCE Palakkad B.Tech admission.

• Candidates need to apply for and take the KEAM entrance exam and obtain a valid score.

• After the KEAM exam, the results, ranks, and KEAM cutoffs are released.

• The admission commission fills 85% of the seats based on merit, while the management fills 15% from the rank list of engineering entrance exams. An additional 10% of students are admitted under the lateral entry scheme in the 3rd semester.

• Candidates who meet the cutoff must participate in KEAM counselling.

• Candidates should select NSS College of Engineering, Palakkad, as preferred college during choice filling.

• Finally, after document verification and payment of the NSS College of Engineering admission fee, final admission is offered.

NSS College of Engineering M.Tech Admission Procedure

• Candidates must meet the NSS College of Engineering M.Tech eligibility criteria.

• Eligible candidates must first appear for the GATE entrance exam and secure a valid score.

• Once the GATE cutoff is released, candidates who meet the cutoff must participate in the M.Tech counselling process. Candidates are called for counselling based on their rank.

• Seats are allocated based on GATE scores, candidates’ preferences, and seat availability.

• If any seats remain vacant, non-GATE candidates from Kerala will be allotted seats. If there are still vacant seats after that, non-GATE candidates from other states will be allotted seats.

• Finally, candidates must verify their documents and pay the NSSCE admission fees to confirm their admission.

         Placement     

Placement, Training & Information Bureau ( P T I B ) is functioning to provide all possible assistance by organizing training programs and providing needful information to students in their efforts to find employment and internship. The PTIB also caters to the needs of various organizations in conducting campus interviews for placements. It is coordinated by a team of senior faculty members headed by the Chief Coordinator assisted by Placement coordinator, Training coordinator, Internship coordinator and faculty representatives from all departments. The smooth functioning of the centre is achieved through the active involvement of student placement coordinators.
P T I B ensures and takes care to provide the best arrangements and hospitality for the visiting companies' officials. It provides all facilities for Pre Placement Talks, Online and Written Test, Group Discussion and Interviews. It plays a very important and key role in counseling and guiding the students of the Institution for their successful career placement which is a crucial interface between the stages of completion of academic programs of the students and their entry into suitable employment.
Many reputed national and multinational companies visit for campus recruitment annually. Large numbers of students secure job offers before they complete their program of studies and leave their Alma Mater.
The Training & placement service operates year round to facilitate contacts between companies and graduates. The benefits of the P T I B are reflected in the students who are able to secure lucrative and esteemed positions in various organizations in recent years.

        library

Our library system consists of a central library and 6 departmental libraries which collectively support the teaching and research programmes of the institute and provides facilities for general reading and disseminates information according to the requirement of the users. Central library has been started functional since 1965. It is housed in a separate building with a plinth area of 924 sq. Mtrs. The operations of the library are fully computerized and koha, an open source integrated library system used for library management functions. Users can search the documents of library through the online public access catalogue (opac) is available all around the campus network.

The central library has acquired over 63094 volumes of books with 35246 titles. The books are classified according to the ddc scheme of library classification and follows open access system. The central library subscribes more than 60 print national journals, 30 popular magazines and 5 daily news papers. In addition to the regular library and information services, book bank service is being provided to ensure essential study materials to socially backward students.

The central library have purchased 4 valuable foreign e-journal databases in the field of engineering science and technology include asce, asme, elsevier, and springer in the last four years. We provide remote access of these e-resources through knimbus platform. Turnitin ( plagiarism detecting software) also available in the central library. Iei e- journals (5 journals) , world e-book library , south asia archive (saa) , national digital library and nssce digital library ( nssce digital repository ) also available in our library. Ip based full text access of these electronic resources are activated all over the campus .

            Hostal

The Institute has comfortable and well furnished residential facilities for all the students admitted to the various courses. There are 3 hostel blocks (halls of residence) for men and 1 for women with an inmate capacity of 483 and 172 respectively. For Ist year girls, separate accommodation is providing in the NSS Working women hostel, in front of the college. The atmosphere in these hostels give a feeling of 'home away from home'. Hostel rooms are spacious, which provides comfortable environment.

The Hostels are under direct control of the Warden and each hostel is having one or two members of the staff of the college as Assistant Wardens and they shall be responsible to all matters connected with the Hostel. The Warden shall have the power to frame standing orders/ rules to regulate internal matters and other details not explicitly covered by these rules. The Principal is the Ex Officio Chief Warden and his decisions shall be final in the interpretation of rules and all matters connected with the Hostel. Application for admission to hostels should be submitted in the prescribed form to the Warden.

Each student admitted to the hostel will be provided with essential furniture for which he/she should give a receipt and for the safety of which they shall be responsible. Hostel furniture shall not be removed from one room to other under any circumstances. Students should provide their own bedding and trunks to lock things in. The articles of furniture shall be returned and a receipt may be obtained at the time of leaving the hostel. Students can bring in other articles only on the written permission of the Warden. Each hostel is provided with a television, water cooler and kit for indoor games.

There is provision for Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian food in the mess. The mess shall be run on self management and dividing system under the supervision of the Hostel authorities. All major festivals are celebrated in the hostel with great fervour. Hostel day is celebrated with great enthusiasm. The cordiality between the seniors and the juniors lay the foundation for a conducive and friendly atmosphere.

College Bus

The College is presently having 2 buses for transportation of students and staff residing in Palakkad Town and nearby areas. Buses are operated regularly on all working days of the college with convenient timings. In addition to daily trips, buses are made available to all academic/extra curricular tours/trips of students and staff.The Bus Facility is monitored by the College Bus Committee, which consists of Students, Staff and PTA representatives.
