Rajiv Gandhi Group of Institutions is a join venture of Sri. M. Visvesvaraya Education Trust, Jawahar Bharathi Education Trust, Shanthinikethan Educational Trust and Rabindranath Tagore Education Trust for the admission process of the courses run by the institution.Sir. M. Visvesvaraya Education Trust was established in the year 1983 in the State of Karnataka. P. Sadasivan and Late Smt. M. Baby are the founder trustees of the Trust. It is also managing the administration of Jawahar Bharathi Education Trust and Shanthinikethan Educational Trust at Bangalore. The Trust also associate with Rabindranath Tagore Education Trust in Kerala for the promotion of educational activities in Kerala along with Cultural & Tourism development and for the Ayurvedic Research Centre.

Admission Procedure
Engineering Degree Course:
The students seeking admission to the first year BE Degree course in Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Bangalore shall appear in the Competitive entrance test conducted by the concerned authorities as per the approval of the college from time to time. The entrance test is presently conducted by COMEDK for All India students and KEA (CET Cell) for Karnataka students. The selection and counseling for admission will be made as per merit list published by the concerned authorities. The selected candidates shall pay the fees as notify by the college. The students seeking admission under the management and NRI category can apply directly to the college with the application forms available free of cost from the college website and the admission will be considered on merit as per the marks obtained by the candidate in the aggregate of optional subjects of the qualifying examination. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Any student, neither reported to the college nor paid the fee as prescribed by the college within the date specified, will be treated as cancelled and the next merited candidate will be considered in the said vacancy. The admission procedure will be completed as per the schedule prescribed by the university. In any case, no admission will be considered after the last date of admission.A candidate once admitted will not be permitted to take transfer to any other college after the last date of admission. The candidates, who have passed in the diploma examination of the related courses conducted at RGIT can apply for the admission to the third semester, i.e. 2nd year B.E. course in the appropriate branch as per the regulations of the university.

Engineering - Post Graduation Course (M.Tech):
Admissions are made, based on the merit determined by the KEA to the eligible candidates who have passed the recognised engineering degree course with minimum of 50% marks under the government quota and few seats by the college.

Ph.D in Engineering:
Admissions are given to the selected students who have applied to the university as per its norms and eligibility.

Scholarship
The meritorious and economically backward students get scholarship to pursue their education in this institutions. The scholarship by way of fee concession is given by the institution to all the students allotted by the State Government. Scholarships are also considered to the deserving candidates under other categories by the management as appropriate.

Students admitted under the reservation category for SC / ST / OBC can seek scholarship for the fee payable to the insitution from the State Government, subject to their eligibility as notified by the government from time to time.

Students shall submit the scholarship sanctioned details for updating their accounts by the college for the fees adjustment or refund. Scholarship Sanctioned Details Entry Form

Students who had applied for scholarship to the Government authorities and Other outside Bodies shall verify the status of their refundable amount after the fee adjustement here. Apply for the Scholarship amount refundable from the college.

College & Campus Facilities
FACILITIES

The college is situated in the heart of the city. Apart from being the Garden City, Bangalore is now the natural choice and preferred destination for students from different parts of the country to pursue professional education, be it in Engineering, Medicine or any other field. The city is home to globally renowned corporate houses in the IT sector. The distance to the college from the city railway station and Bangalore airport is 7 kms & 15 kms respectively. The college has an excellent infrastructure and accessibility from various parts of the city. The college has a well designed administrative block and various other rooms and facilities for the students such as girls common room and boys common room, waiting room, co-operative store etc. It has provided well equipped furnished labs for basic sciences separately and other departmental laboratories as per the norms of AICTE & University. Each section of students has separate classrooms and facilities as per the norms of the AICTE. Class rooms are well furnished and ventilated. Audio visual Room is provided with all teaching aids, OHP, Slide Projector, Television, Video Player, LCD Projector, Video Camera, Still Camera, DVD, Multimedia Computer, Audio Systems, Microscopic Projector, etc., in order to ensure overall development of students. The students have all the facilities for games and sports. Adequate infrastructure are provided for indoor and outdoor games and extra-curricular activities. A canteen with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is also available in the college campus. The college building has made more provisions for the expansion. Other facility consists of Drawing Hall, Conference Hall etc. RGIT provides bus facility for students to commute from different parts of the city.

COLLEGE HOSTEL

Separate hostel facilities are provided for Boys and Girls in the college campus. It has adequate high security and good discipline. Each room has an attached bathroom. The students who are not staying with the parents shall reside in the college hostel as per college rules. The canteen of the college provides food in the hostel also.

Access to information is a vital key in developing the individuals potentiality. RGIT has provided a central library consisting more than 10,000 volumes of books and adequate number of journals. All the latest editions of books both for reference and text are available in this library. It also subscribes to various newspaper and periodicals for the information and update of their knowledge. The journals of both National and International, related to all engineering subjects are also subscribed.
The interventions of Information Technology has provided a great gap in the case of Library automation services. The Library is computerized with all the features of library management system. The library also maintains e-books for students and it has the digital library facility for all the students with the internet connection.
The library is spread over 6000 sq.ft. and has the seating capacity of 250 students in its reading sections. Mr. C. Mallikarjuna is working as Senior Librarian .Has 9 years of experience (Academic & Special Libraries).

This college has an excellent teaching faculty with highly qualified and well experienced staff. The teacher student ratio is maintained at 1:10. All teachers are full time and the students are given special attention in their studies. The excellent results in the university examination is due to dedicated, constant effort by staff. The teaching aids used by the staff are modern and helps the students to learn the subject thoroughly. Parents teachers meeting is held periodically after each internal test and students performance is furnished to the parents directly.
