Rao Bahadur Y. Mahabaleswarappa Engineering College, formerly Vijayanagar Engineering College, is a private college which was established in the year 1980.  RYMEC follows Veerasaiva Vidyavardhaka Sangha adage of providing quality education at affordable fees.  It aims to enhance the knowledge and skill of the student in the field of Technology and Engineering by grooming the students in both theoretical and practical aspects and contribute significantly towards creation of strong technical workforce that would bridge the gap between industry requirements and academic orientation.

 
RYMEC is located in a sprawling 53 acres Cantonment, Ballari 583104, Karnataka.  The college is easily accessible by all modes of transport.  The campus is strategically situated 1.2 km from Bellary airport, 5 km from Bellary Railway station and 500 m from VEC Bus Stop.

RYMECoffers UG program BE in 6 disciplines, PG programs MTech in 4 disciplines and MBA Degree.  The admissions are provided on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in CET/ COMED-K/Management examination. The candidates are selected on the basis of the performance of the entrance examination. The college is also a Research Centre for 8 fields in Engineering and Management.
