Over the course of two and half decades RV College of Architecture (RVCA) has earned its reputation as an institution firmly ingrained in pedagogy revolving around academics,
research and consultancy. At present it is globally recognized as a centre of excellence and quality education in the field of Architecture and Urban Design. With its devotion towards the cause of learning architecture, the institute has constantly strived towards bringing together academicians with diverse specializations, academic rigor, self-criticism and self-evaluation with a determined objective of shaping the attitude and work ethics of young minds.
The institute is also proud of its team of highly specialized faculties with diverse work and academic experience who constantly contribute to research and actively participate in the development and upgrading of teaching tools and education quality by instilling academic rigor in the study, critique and design of urban environs.
RVCA’s uncompromising stance towards quality in architectural education sets our students apart, and has also earned our students and faculty several accolades over the years.

HISTORY

Established in the year 1992, R.V. College of Architecture (RVCA) initially started as a Department of Architecture in R. V. College of Engineering (RVCE), Bengaluru. In 1995, the department shifted to an independent new building within the RVCE campus. The department obtained autonomy and renamed to R.V School of Architecture in 2009. Later in the same year, Council of Architecture (COA), India, approved its re-designation to R.V College of Architecture. In 2014, it shifted to a new campus with affiliation to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, Karnataka.

Candidates applying through COMED-K must score at least 80 marks in NATA Entrance Exam. Candidates applying through COMED-K belonging to OBC/SC/ ST category of Karnataka gets a relaxation of 5% marks in the aggregate score. Candidate applying through Management Quota must pass NATA / JEE Paper-2 Entrance Exam.

CAREERS
RVCA invites applications for full time and visiting faculty as Professors, Associate and Assistant Professors for teaching Theory and History of Architecture, Construction Management, Planning, services, practice, structural engineering (from candidates having requisite qualification/ experience as per COA guidelines).

Candidates applying for the post of Professor should preferably have over 15 years’ experience in teaching / research / practice, those applying for the post of Associate Professor should preferably have over 10 years’ experience.

Relaxation in teaching experience may be considered for candidates having at least 3 years’ experience after Ph.D. or equivalent.

It is mandatory to have a valid COA registration (only Candidates registered with the Council of Architecture (COA) under the provisions of the Architects Act, 1972 shall be eligible for the above post). The educational qualifications of the candidates shall be from UGC recognized universities only.

Fresh graduates who have pursued B.Arch at graduation level and Masters in Urban Design/Planning / Architecture / Construction Management / Building Engineering can also apply.

Practicing architects having extensive industry experience (over 15 years) and only B.Arch degree can also forward their applications. RVCA encourages its faculty members to keep themselves abreast of the latest techniques and development and to involve in professional practice, including research. Eligible and interested persons are requested to send their applications with full details, their latest CV along with two passport size photographs, required copies of educational qualification certificates.

The college encourages practice/consultancy and provides a very congenial and vigorous academic environment.

The amount of scholarship shall be commensurate with the achievements and shall be decided by the Scholarship Committee of RV University. A sum of Rs. 15,00,000/-(Rupees Fifteen Lakhs) shall be utilized to provide scholarship for the AY 2022-2023.

OVERVIEW
RV College of Architecture is located in a rapidly growing neighbourhood of South Bengaluru in Banashankari 6th Stage.

The state of the art campus is built over a site measuring 2.4 acres. The inspiring structure of the college has been designed to create an environment conducive for architectural studies. The self-contained campus with floor area of about 15000 square metres comprises of the academic block, administrative block and hostel block;

In addition, there is an open-air auditorium, a cafeteria, common seating area inspired from the traditional kund, a modest outdoor sports’ facility along with a covered parking area and ATM.

BOYS’ HOSTEL:

Forty three-bed rooms are available in the Boys’ Hostel block. Additional thirty bed capacity is available in Venkatadri Hostel located about 4 kilometres from the campus. A vegetarian mess providing four meals a day is attached to the hostel for the convenience of the students.

COMPUTER LAB :
The computer laboratory of RVCA facilitates learn and work with latest software. Sixty standalone systems of latest configuration are loaded with licensed softwares including Autocad, Revit among others.

CONSTRUCTION YARD :
Located outdoors, students engage in hands-on activity to construct various components of buildings such as walls, arches, piers, domes, etc. using different materials of construction.

DINING FACILITY :
Hostel inmates served with vegetarian meals comprising of breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner. EXHIBITION HALL :
A spacious Exhibition hall measuring 180 square metres proudly showcases the works of RVCA students produced in studios. The displayed works offer an overview of RVCA’s philosophy pedagogical approach.

FINE ARTS STUDIO :
A facility housed in a space measuring 120 square metres. Students explore their creativity by playing with different mediums such as clay, wax, plaster of Paris, and canvas. The studio is equipped with easels, potter wheels and other required tools and equipment.

GIRLS HOSTEL:

LECTURE HALLS :
Ten lecture halls which are capable of accommodating a class of 40 – 80 students. The lecture halls are equipped with modern teaching equipment to facilitate an effective and interactive learning environment.

MODEL MAKING WORKSHOP :
A place where students are guided in giving shape to their ideas and imaginations via different materials. The workshop is largely used by students during the course on basic design and model-making. Workshop facilities are housed in an area 120 square metres.

MULTI-PURPOSE HALL :
Named after the late Prof.Sudheendra Yelvagi, this 250-capacity auditorium serves the purpose of conducting bigger events. The hall is also used for the purpose of conferences and cultural events in the college.

SEMINAR HALL :
An air-conditioned, 130-capacity seminar hall, widely used for conducting seminars and talks by faculty and invited experts. Hall is equipped with projection facilities and public address system

SPORTS FACILITY:
Outdoor and indoor sport facilities comprising chess, carrom board, table tennis, basketball, badminton court and gymnasium are available within the premises.

STUDIOS :
Twelve well-designed, spacious studios equipped with forty workstations. These well-lit studios provide a stimulating working environment allowing students to engage in the creative task of designing.

Our fleet of buses take care of commuting needs of over 1,000 students.
