Sri Jagadguru Murugarajendra Institute of Technology, more commonly known as S.J.M Institute of Technology (SJMIT) was established in the academic year 1980-81 in Chitradurga with the blessings of Sri Sri Sri Mallikarjuna Murugharajendra Mahaswamiji, the then President of SJM Vidyapeetha. Today, it has become the largest provider of Engineering education in central Karnataka and is also widely regarded as one of the most prestigious private academic institutions in the state with over 1500 students and 250 plus Teaching and Non-teaching Staff on board.

The eco-friendly SJMIT campus spread over a sprawling 22 acres of land with lush green garden is filled with flora-n-fauna making it an ideal platform for higher education with a serene and homely atmosphere.  It is locate adjacent to the Pune-Bangalore National Highway (NH-4) bye-pass in Chitradurga, Karnataka.  The institute is well connected by road and railway network and is just 200km drive from Bangalore city.

SJMIT is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, Karnataka. The Institute is recognized and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and accredited by the NAAC with “B++ Grade”.

Both UG and PG Degree programs in various Engineering streams are offered by S.J.M Institute of Technology.  The courses offered by them include BE (in 5 Disciplines) with a total annual intake of 340 seats and MTech (in 3 Disciplines) with a total annual intake of 36 seats.  S.J.M.I.T Chitradurga Admission is purely based on C.E.T. ranks.

The institute is blended with experienced, highly qualified and dedicated team of Faculty in all the disciplines of engineering. Considering physically challenged students, provisions of ramp and wheel chairs are made. For such students, most of the class rooms are in the ground floor.

Pass in P.U.C. with 45% of marks in P.C.M. or any equivalent exams Recognized by Govt. of Karnataka & V.T.U Belgaum.All the eligible candidates may apply to the college in the application form available in the College Office or by paying a D.D. for Rs. 1000/- in favour of Principal S.J.M.I.T Chitradurga.Admission is purely based on C.E.T. ranks.
