SRM Arts and Science College, Affiliated to the University of Madras was established in the year 1993. The college thrives on continuous learning and moulding the students in all facets of life enabling them to achieve success in academics and approach life with zest and confidence.

The environment of the College helps the students to different levels of education and practical exposure allowing them to excel in their chosen field of study. The College continuously works on to prepare the students and achieve excellence and competence.

The College at present offers 15 Undergraduate Courses and 9 Postgraduate Courses. The total strength of the College is 2550 Students and 225 Staff Members. Every year our Students secure University Rank and Gold Medal. The students have been successfully placed in many reputed national and multinational companies. Many of our students pursue higher studies in India and abroad. We have a functional and Proactive Alumni Association.

The Genesis of SRM Group and Growth
SRM Group of Educational Institutions for higher education is functioning under the aegis of the four decade old “Valliammai Society”. The Society was founded by Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar, Honorable Member of Parliament, Country’s leading Educationist and philanthropist for promoting the cause of Quality Education. SRM Group runs its Educational institutions in five States and is one of the largest and leading Educational Groups in the Country.

The Branches of study include Engineering and Technology, Management, Medical/ Dental/ Life and Bio-Sciences / Paramedical and Allied Medical Sciences, Hospitality and Arts & Science. Contributions made by SRM, consistently over the decades through Educational Institutions and Health Care Services have been well recognized at the National and International Level.

The College with its Vision and Mission aspires to produce competent Graduates to fulfill the need of future. At present, our College offers 15 Undergraduates Programmes and 9 Postgraduates Programmes with state-of-art-facilities available at every department.

Every year number of students seeking admission on various programmes keeps increasing and the students admitted at the College are shaped better on par with some of the best Institutions.

Training & Placement Cell, Counseling System, various Committees, Clubs, Sports facilities, NSS, YRC, RRC and Fine Arts Club function effectively for the academic and welfare of the students.

The Training & placement cell was established in the year 2011. Placement cell is one of the most unique and distinguished department that has built its brand among the corporate sector, delivering the most energetic and spirited youngsters to the corporate world. The placement cell also coordinates various activities related to the career growth of the students by conducting programs on “Personality development”, “Interpersonal & communication skills” and “Career planning” and “career mapping”. A consistent placement record has been maintained since its inception, 94% of Eligible Candidates are placed consecutively for the past one decade with more than 30 multinational companies offering job opportunities for students in various sectors like, Information Technology, Banking and Financial, Life Science, Manufacturing, Advertising agencies, BPOs, KPOs, NGOs etc.

Responsibilities

To assist students to develop their academic and career interests, and their short and long-term goals through individual counseling and group discussion.

Work with faculty members, department heads and administration to integrate career planning with academic curriculum.

Scholarships for the Students:

Students of the college who are Eligible under the following categories may apply for the Scholarship in person in the College.

SC/ST/SCC (SC – Converted Christians) students

BC/MBC students – only for Government Quota

Minority scholarship for Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhist, Parsis , Jains and other eligible Students may Log on to www.scholarship.gov.in to avail the scholarship.

SRM Multi-Specialty Hospital and Medical College are located within the Campus. The Hospital is a modern General Hospital with state of the art facilities.

Banking

The College has a branch of the City Union Bank, Indian Bank and HDFC Bank in the campus in which students and the staff conduct banking transactions as per their requirement.

To provide the banking facility for the students and staffs, we established a ATM of SBI , CUB, ICICI and HDFC adjacent to our college campus. To make banking easier for our students, 24 hours ATM facility has been provided. Hostel students enjoy the benefits more.

Air Conditioned buses are operated connecting almost all parts of the city and suburban for the convenience of the students and the faculty.
