Vel Tech High Tech Dr. Rangarajan Dr. Sakunthala Engineering College is a premier Autonomous Institution which was formerly known as Vel SRS Hitech Engineering College.  It was established in the year 2002 under R.S.Trust.  This minority College was founded by the Philanthropic couple Col. Prof. Vel. Dr. R. Rangarajan, Founder President & Chairman and Dr. Sagunthala Rangarajan, Founder Vice-Chairman respectively. 

Vel Tech High Tech RSEC campus is spread over 100 acres, with about 22 lakh sq meters built up area, providing the environment for perpetual learning.  It is located in the suburban area on Avadi-Vel Tech Road, Vel Nagar , Avadi, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The Vel Tech High Tech College is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.  It is accredited by the NBA and recognized as an 'A' Grade institution by the NAAC.  All the courses are approved by the UGC as well as AICTE.

Under the governance of AICTE & Anna University, this College has several branches of study with both UG PG Programs.  The courses offered by this college are BE/BTech, ME and MBA.  The eligibility for admission to UG programs is a minimum of 60% marks in MPC in 10+2 (Class XII) final or equivalent examination.  Admission to all of the courses at Vel Tech is either merit-based or entrance-based.  The university accepts either its in-house entrance exam, i.e., VTUEEE or national-level entrance exams such as GATE, TANSAT, CLAT and LSAT.
