Factors Deciding CMAT Cutoff Marks

Several elements play a significant role in determining CMAT cutoff marks, some of which are explained below.

Number of Test-Takers: The total number of candidates appearing for the exam directly impacts the cut-off. Higher participation generally leads to increased competition and, consequently, higher cut-off marks.

Difficulty Level of Exam: The overall difficulty level of the question paper is a critical determinant. If the exam is comparatively tough, the cut-off marks are likely to be lower.

Number of Vacancies:Vacancies and cut-off marks share an inverse relationship. Fewer available seats usually result in higher cut-offs, while a larger number of seats may reduce the cut-off.

Candidate’s Performance: The collective performance of candidates also influences the cut-off. If a majority of test-takers perform well, the cut-off marks are expected to rise.
