COMEDK UGET 2026 Eligibility Norms Announced with Three Significant Updates – Complete Guidelines Explained: The Consortium has officially published the eligibility conditions for COMEDK UGET 2026 on its official website, comedk.org. For the upcoming examination cycle, the authorities have incorporated several important updates. Aspirants are advised to go through the complete eligibility details carefully to confirm whether they meet the requirements for applying to the examination.

The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka has made public the COMEDK 2026 eligibility criteria on comedk.org. These criteria outline the minimum academic and nationality-related requirements that candidates must satisfy to be eligible for the entrance test. For COMEDK UGET 2026, the Consortium has introduced three major revisions to the eligibility norms. Admission to participating institutions will be granted only to candidates who meet all prescribed conditions. The registration process for COMEDK 2026 is scheduled to begin on February 3, 2026.

Revisions Made to COMEDK 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Applicants can review the newly introduced changes for this year below.

Until 2025, candidates were required to study Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with English as a compulsory subject in Class 12 to be eligible for COMEDK. From this year onwards, Chemistry can be replaced with Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science or Electronics as an alternative subject.

Candidates must have successfully passed all individual subjects, including any optional or additional subjects.

Candidates securing ‘0’ (Zero) marks in the entrance test will not be allotted any rank.

Complete COMEDK UGET 2026 Eligibility Requirements

Candidates who are Indian Citizens, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), or Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) are eligible to appear for COMEDK UGET 2026.

The qualifying examination for admission to B.E./B.Tech programmes is Second PUC or 10+2 Higher Secondary or any equivalent examination recognised by the State or Central Government. The final two years of study must include Physics, Chemistry (or Biotechnology or Biology or Computer Science or Electronics), Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects.

Candidates belonging to the General Merit category must have secured at least 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, while SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka State must have a minimum aggregate of 40% in these subjects. All three subjects must be passed individually. Physics, Mathematics and English are mandatory subjects, along with Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Computer Science or Electronics as one of the optional subjects. Any modifications to the eligibility criteria introduced by AICTE or VTU will be implemented accordingly.

Candidates must pass all individual subjects, including any optional or additional subjects.

All qualifying subjects must be cleared from a single board. Marks cards issued by two different boards will not be accepted. For instance, a candidate who has Physics and Chemistry marks from the CBSE board and Mathematics marks from the NIOS board will be deemed ineligible.

Appearing in the COMEDK Entrance Test for admission to engineering courses is sufficient to be considered for inclusion in the rank list. However, candidates who score ‘0’ (Zero) marks will not be assigned a rank.

Diploma holders are not eligible to appear for the COMEDK Entrance Test, as lateral entry admissions are not available.
