During the JEE Main 2026 application process, candidates were permitted to choose up to four preferred cities from within the states mentioned in their present and permanent address. The NTA stated that every effort will be made to allocate the examination city according to the order of preference selected by candidates in the online JEE Main 2026 application form. However, due to administrative or logistical constraints, candidates may be allotted a city different from their preferred choices.

“In cases where there are very few candidates from a particular city, the NTA reserves the right to merge one, two, or more cities. The decision of the NTA regarding the allotment of the City/Centre shall be final, and no further correspondence or request will be entertained in such cases,” the agency clarified.

For foreign candidates, the selection of examination cities will also be determined based on their present and permanent address.

Additionally, the NTA emphasized that it will make every possible effort to ensure the comfort and convenience of candidates, including PwD / PwBD candidates, while allotting examination centres for the JEE Main 2026 January session.
