NEET-PG 2025: No Special Stray Vacancy Round, NMC Reaffirms Final Admission Deadline in Fresh Communication: In a crucial update for postgraduate medical aspirants, the National Medical Commission (NMC), under the Government of India, has once again reiterated that no Special Stray Vacancy Round will be organized for NEET-PG 2025 counselling. The clarification comes through a follow-up communication issued by the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) and the NMC Secretariat dated April 1, 2026.

Reference to Earlier Notification

The latest communication (No. N-P050(20)/26/2026-PGMEB (e-8391526)) explicitly refers to the earlier directive issued on the same date by the PGMEB. The earlier notice had already informed stakeholders that no additional stray vacancy round would be conducted and emphasized that the decision is final.

The NMC has described the earlier communication as “self-explanatory,” underlining that the counselling process for NEET-PG 2025 has conclusively ended.

February 28, 2026: Absolute Cut-Off for Admissions

Reinforcing its earlier stance, the Commission has reiterated that only those admissions completed on or before February 28, 2026, will be considered valid. Any admission made beyond this deadline will be treated as invalid and outside the purview of approved counselling norms.

This directive aligns with the schedule approved and upheld by the Supreme Court of India, ensuring uniformity and transparency in the admission process across the country.

Directions to States, Counselling Authorities & Colleges

The communication has been addressed to:

  • Directors of Medical Education of all States and Union Territories

  • Medical Counselling Authorities

  • Directors, Deans, and Principals of all medical colleges/institutions under NMC

All stakeholders have been advised to strictly adhere to the instructions outlined in the earlier PGMEB communication and ensure compliance with the prescribed timelines and guidelines.

Strict Compliance Mandatory

The NMC has clearly instructed that:

  • No deviation from the prescribed counselling schedule will be permitted

  • No additional or independent counselling rounds should be conducted

  • All authorities must follow the guidelines issued by the PGMEB without exception

Failure to comply may lead to consequences under NMC regulations, including invalidation of admissions.

Official Endorsement and Circulation

The communication has been issued by Dr. Raghav Langer, Secretary, NMC, and has been digitally signed on April 1, 2026. Copies of the notification have also been circulated to key officials, including:

  • Secretaries of Medical Education Departments across States/UTs

  • Chairman, NMC

  • Officials from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare

  • Presidents of various NMC boards (PGMEB, MARB, UGEMB, EMRB)

  • IT Division for website and official platform updates

Conclusion

With this reaffirmation, the National Medical Commission has effectively closed all possibilities for any further counselling rounds for NEET-PG 2025. Aspirants and institutions must now proceed strictly within the defined framework, as any violation could lead to cancellation of admissions and regulatory action.
