NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund: NTA Extends Bank Account Update Deadline Till July 31; Eligible Candidates Get Another Opportunity: In a major relief for lakhs of medical aspirants across the country, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has once again extended the deadline for confirming, correcting, or updating bank account details for the NEET UG 2026 examination fee refund. Candidates who are yet to complete the process can now submit or modify their bank account information up to July 31, 2026.

The latest extension has been provided to ensure that no eligible candidate is deprived of receiving the examination fee refund due to incorrect, incomplete, or missing banking information. The decision comes after several earlier extensions and aims to facilitate a smooth refund process for all eligible applicants following the cancellation of the original NEET UG 2026 examination.

Another Opportunity for Eligible Candidates

The NTA has repeatedly reopened the refund portal after observing that a significant number of candidates had either not submitted their banking details or had entered incorrect account information. Many aspirants also missed the previous deadlines due to various reasons, including examination-related activities, technical issues, or mistakes while entering bank details.

With the latest extension, candidates now have a final opportunity to verify and update their refund information before the refund process is completed.

Background: Why the Refund is Being Issued

The examination fee refund pertains to the original NEET UG 2026 examination conducted on May 3, 2026, which was subsequently cancelled following the nationwide paper leak controversy. The cancellation affected more than 22 lakh registered candidates, prompting the NTA to announce a complete refund of the examination fee paid by eligible applicants.

A fresh re-examination was conducted on June 21, 2026, while the refund process for the cancelled examination has been running simultaneously.

Who Should Update Their Bank Details?

Candidates should visit the refund portal if they fall under any of the following categories:

  • They have not yet submitted any bank account details.

  • They entered an incorrect bank account number.

  • They entered an incorrect IFSC code.

  • Their earlier bank account has become inactive.

  • They wish to replace previously submitted account details.

  • They had earlier selected the "No Refund" option but now wish to claim the refund.

  • They need to verify that the submitted details are accurate.

Candidates whose bank account information is already correct are also advised to log in and confirm the details to avoid any delay in receiving the refund.

What Candidates Can Do on the Refund Portal

The refund portal allows candidates to perform multiple actions, including:

  • View previously submitted bank details.

  • Confirm existing bank account information.

  • Correct account number or IFSC code.

  • Update bank account details.

  • Change refund preference if required.

  • Submit fresh banking information if not done earlier.

  • The candidate.

  • Either parent of the candidate.

  • A joint account that includes the candidate.

Candidates are advised to ensure that the account is active and capable of receiving electronic fund transfers.

Important Precautions While Updating Details

The NTA has advised candidates to take extra care while submitting banking information. Aspirants should:

  • Double-check the account number before submission.

  • Ensure the IFSC code is correct.

  • Use only an active bank account.

  • Keep login credentials confidential.

  • Never share passwords or OTPs with anyone.

  • Beware of fraudulent calls or messages seeking banking details.

The agency has clarified that refunds will be processed strictly on the basis of the information submitted by candidates. Incorrect details may result in delayed or unsuccessful transactions.

Why the Extension Was Necessary

The extension has been granted after authorities found that many candidates were still unable to complete the verification process during the earlier windows. Several applicants had submitted incorrect account details, while others had not logged into the portal at all.

By extending the deadline tillJuly 31, 2026, the NTA intends to ensure that every eligible candidate gets sufficient time to complete the process and receive the refund without unnecessary complications.

Refund Process to Continue After Verification

Once the verification window closes, the NTA is expected to process refunds based on the final bank account details submitted by candidates. Therefore, aspirants are advised not to wait until the last date and should complete the verification process well in advance to avoid heavy website traffic or technical glitches.
