NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund Window Closes Today: NTA Gives Final Opportunity to Update Bank Details Before Refund Processing: New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will close the final fee refund window for NEET UG 2026 today, giving eligible candidates one last opportunity to confirm or update their bank account details before the refund process is completed. Candidates who fail to verify or correct their banking information before the deadline may face delays in receiving their examination fee refund.

The refund process has been initiated following the cancellation of the original NEET UG 2026 examination held on May 3, which was scrapped after allegations of a paper leak triggered a nationwide controversy. The examination was subsequently conducted again on June 21, 2026, and the NTA decided to refund the application fee collected for the cancelled examination to all eligible candidates.

Final Deadline Today

According to the latest notification, candidates who have not yet completed the bank account verification or need to make corrections must do so before the portal closes today at 11:50 PM. Once the deadline expires, the NTA is expected to process refunds using only the bank details available in its records. No further opportunity is likely to be provided after the closure of this window.

Why the Refund Window Was Reopened

The refund portal was initially opened soon after the cancellation of the original examination. However, the NTA received a large number of requests from candidates who had submitted incorrect bank account numbers, wrong IFSC codes, or incomplete account details. Many students also requested permission to modify their earlier submissions or provide bank details for the first time.

Considering these representations, the agency reopened the portal several times to ensure that every eligible candidate receives the refund without unnecessary complications. The latest extension up to today is being treated as the final opportunityfor candidates to complete the process. (NEET)

Who Is Eligible for the Refund?

The refund facility is available for candidates who:

  • Registered for the original NEET UG 2026 examination.

  • Were affected by the cancellation of the May 3 examination.

  • Were eligible under the NTA refund policy announced after the examination was cancelled.

  • Have submitted valid bank account details for electronic transfer of the refund.

How Candidates Can Update Their Bank Details

Eligible candidates can complete the process by logging into the official NEET portal using their application credentials. After completing the required authentication, they should:

  • Open the Bank Account Details Confirmation/Updation link.

  • Verify the account holder's name.

  • Check the account number carefully.

  • Ensure the IFSC code is correct.

  • Confirm the bank name and branch details.

  • Save and submit the updated information before the deadline.

Cancelled Cheque Upload Recommended

The NTA has also provided candidates with an option to upload a cancelled cheque while submitting bank details. Although uploading the cheque is not mandatory, it is strongly recommended because it helps verify the correctness of the account number and IFSC code, thereby reducing the possibility of refund failures or delays.

Refund Will Be Transferred Directly

Once the verification process is completed, the refund amount will be credited directly to the bank account provided by the candidate through electronic transfer. Candidates should ensure that the account remains active and is capable of receiving electronic payments.

Officials have advised candidates to avoid waiting until the last few hours, as heavy traffic on the portal may result in technical issues or delayed submissions.

More Than 10 Lakh Candidates Have Already Updated Their Details

According to available information, over 10.28 lakh candidates have already confirmed or updated their bank account information, and the refund processing has already begun for many eligible applicants. The reopening of the portal was primarily aimed at ensuring that the remaining candidates also receive their refunds without any difficulty.

Students Advised to Exercise Caution

Candidates should verify every detail before final submission, especially:

  • Bank account number.

  • IFSC code.

  • Name of the account holder.

  • Active bank account status.

Any incorrect information may lead to refund failure or significant delays, requiring additional verification at a later stage. Candidates are therefore advised to complete the process carefully and retain a copy or screenshot of the confirmation page for future reference.

Background

The original NEET UG 2026 examination conducted on May 3 was cancelled following allegations of a paper leak. The development affected more than 20 lakh medical aspirantsacross the country and led to a fresh examination on June 21, 2026. Alongside conducting the re-examination, the NTA announced that candidates would receive a refund of the examination fee paid for the cancelled test, subject to successful verification of their banking details.

What Candidates Should Do Now

With the refund portal closing today, candidates who have not yet verified or updated their bank account information should immediately log in to the official NEET portal, complete the verification process, and submit accurate banking details before the deadline. Missing the deadline could result in delays in receiving the refund or additional procedural complications.
