NEET UG 2026 Result Date Update: Re-Exam Results Likely by July 20, Evaluation Process Being Fast-Tracked: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to announce the results of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination by July 20, 2026, according to senior sources within the agency.
The move comes as the testing agency is reportedly working to complete the evaluation process much earlier than the usual timeline to ensure that the medical admission and counselling schedule remains unaffected.

Over 20 Lakh Candidates Appeared in NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination

The NEET UG 2026 re-examination was conducted on June 21, 2026, after the original examination held on May 3, 2026, was cancelled.

More than 20 lakh candidates appeared for the re-test, which was conducted at:

  • 5,440 examination centres across India

  • 14 examination centres outside India

The re-examination was organised on a massive scale to ensure that medical admissions for the academic session remain on schedule.

NTA Aims to Declare Results Ahead of Usual Timeline

According to reports, the NTA is making every effort to expedite the result preparation process.

Typically, examination results are declared within 45 days of the examination date, which would have placed the result announcement around August 5, 2026. However, officials are reportedly trying to release the results significantly earlier.

An official familiar with the development said that the agency is aiming to publish the results by July 20, 2026, nearly two weeks ahead of the normal schedule.

The official also assured candidates that the MBBS admission process and counselling schedule are expected to remain on track despite the re-examination.

Nearly 10,000 Objections Received Against Provisional Answer Key

Earlier, the NTA had released the NEET UG 2026 provisional answer key on June 25, 2026, and invited objections from candidates until June 28, 2026.

According to reports, approximately 10,000 objections were submitted by candidates challenging various questions and answers in the preliminary answer key.

In a public notice issued on June 25, the agency stated that it would review all objections submitted by candidates and thereafter publish:

  • The final answer key

  • The NEET UG 2026 results

The agency had assured candidates that both would be announced at the earliest possible opportunity following the completion of the review process.

Previous Year's Timeline Indicates Counselling May Begin Soon After Results

For comparison, the NEET UG results in the previous year were announced on June 14 for the examination conducted on May 4, while the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) commenced the counselling process on July 21.

Given the agency's efforts to expedite the evaluation process this year, candidates can expect the counselling schedule to proceed without significant delays.

Why Was the Original NEET UG 2026 Exam Cancelled?

The original NEET UG 2026 examination, which was conducted on May 3, 2026, was cancelled by the NTA on May 12, 2026, after obtaining approval from the Government of India.

The agency had stated that the decision was taken following inputs received in coordination with central agencies and findings shared by law enforcement authorities.

Subsequently, the NTA conducted the nationwide re-examination on June 21, 2026, to ensure a fair and transparent admission process for medical aspirants.

What Candidates Should Do Next

Candidates are advised to:

  • Regularly monitor the official NTA website for result announcements.

  • Keep their application number and login credentials ready.

  • Check the final answer key once released.

  • Prepare the required documents for counselling and admissions.

  • Stay updated on the counselling schedule to avoid missing important deadlines.

With the evaluation process progressing rapidly and the agency aiming to declare the results by July 20, 2026, medical aspirants may not have to wait much longer to know their scores and begin the next stage of the admission process.
