For 2025 - 26, the NMC has approved 9,075 additional MBBS seats across India, excluding AIIMS and JIPMER institutions. Aspirants are advised to check the revised seat matrix carefully and follow the updated schedule released by the NMC.

InAndhra Pradesh, Santhiram Medical College, Nandyal, has expanded its intake from 150 to 250 seats, while Anna Gowri Medical College and Hospital has received permission to start with 150 seats. Similarly, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Karnataka have also seen an increase in the number of MBBS seats, creating more opportunities for aspiring doctors. Conversely, Delhi’s Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences and Research has seen a reduction of 150 seats.

Seat matrix revisions
In September, the NMC approved 6,850 new seats while removing over 1,056 due to pending litigations, delays in renewals, and other administrative issues. About ten days later, another update followed - adding 7,375 more seats and removing 456. This revision came after the Cabinet approved the creation of 10,000 additional MBBS seats under Phase 3 of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS).
