Telangana NEET UG 2026 State Merit List Released: AIR 13 Holder Tops State with 705 Marks; Counselling Registration to Begin Soon: The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Telangana, has officially released the NEET UG 2026 State Provisional Merit List for candidates seeking admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS and other undergraduate medical courses under the state quota for the academic session 2026-27. The publication of the merit list marks a significant milestone for thousands of NEET-qualified aspirants awaiting the commencement of the Telangana state counselling process.

Candidates whose names appear in the state merit list will be eligible to participate in the upcoming online counselling process for admission to government and private medical and dental colleges in Telangana. KNRUHS has stated that a separate notification containing detailed counselling schedules, online registration dates, document verification procedures, and choice-filling instructions will be issued shortly.

State Topper Scores 705 Marks with AIR 13

According to the provisional merit list released by KNRUHS, Veeriahgari Sahyu emerged as the Telangana State Topper, securing an impressive 705 marks in NEET UG 2026 and achieving All India Rank (AIR) 13. This outstanding performance places the candidate among the highest scorers in the country.

The top performers from Telangana include:

  • Veeriahgari Sahyu – 705 Marks, AIR 13

  • Bura Sai Sharan – 701 Marks, AIR 19

  • Kandagatla Haneesh – 700 Marks, AIR 21

  • Andem Sai Charan Reddy – 700 Marks, AIR 38

  • Mayook Jaisimha – 700 Marks, AIR 42

Among female candidates, Kompella Sai Gayatri Tejo Arunima emerged as the highest-ranked student from Telangana with 693 marks and AIR 83, while Ritum Bika Mohanty secured 691 marks and AIR 91. The merit list also reveals that 17 Telangana candidates scored 680 marks or above, highlighting the state's remarkable performance in this year's examination.

State Merit List Crucial for 85% State Quota Admissions

The Telangana State Merit List serves as the basis for admissions under the 85% State Quota in government and private medical and dental colleges affiliated with KNRUHS. It is prepared using candidates' NEET UG 2026 scores, eligibility conditions, and domicile requirements.

Only candidates included in this merit list will be permitted to participate in the state counselling process. Those seeking admission under Telangana's state quota are advised to verify their details carefully and remain alert for upcoming counselling notifications.

NEET UG 2026 Qualifying Cut-Off

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has prescribed the following qualifying cut-off scores for NEET UG 2026:

  • General/EWS: 50th Percentile – 213 to 715 Marks

  • OBC/SC/ST: 40th Percentile – 177 to 212 Marks

  • General/EWS-PwD: 45th Percentile – 194 to 212 Marks

  • OBC/SC-PwD: 177 to 193 Marks

  • ST-PwD: 177 to 191 Marks

Candidates satisfying these eligibility criteria have qualified for the counselling process subject to other admission requirements.

High Competition Continues for Medical Seats

Despite over 11.21 lakh candidates qualifying in NEET UG 2026 nationwide, the total number of MBBS seats across India stands at around 1.37 lakh, making medical admissions highly competitive. On average, nearly eight qualified candidates compete for every MBBS seat, underlining the importance of securing a good rank and making informed counselling choices.

Major Improvements in NEET UG 2026 Counselling

Medical admissions this year will be conducted under an upgraded counselling system introduced by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and state authorities. Key improvements include:

  • Single physical reporting only at the finally allotted college.

  • Online seat upgradation and floating options up to Round 3.

  • Digital document verification and online withdrawal facility.

  • Expansion of PwD assessment centres.

  • Fully digital registration process for NRI quota candidates.

These measures aim to simplify the counselling process, reduce unnecessary travel, and improve transparency for candidates.

Counselling Notification Expected Shortly

KNRUHS has informed candidates that the online registration and counselling notification for MBBS, BDS, and other undergraduate medical courses will be released separately on its official website. Students are advised to keep all essential documents ready, including their NEET UG scorecard, educational certificates, domicile proof, category certificates (if applicable), and other required documents.

Aspirants should regularly monitor the official portal for counselling registration dates, document verification schedules, choice-filling windows, seat allotment announcements, and reporting instructions to avoid missing any important deadlines.
