Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Tirupati (SVVU)
Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University (SVVU) is a State university located in Tirupati was inaugurated in the year 2005 by the then honorable chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy. The University which is named after the Hindu Deity Lord Venkateswara was established by the Government of Andhra Pradesh with a mandate to strengthen Education, Research and Extension Activities in the three faculties, namely Veterinary Science, Dairy Technology and Fisheries Science. SVVU was created by merging the College of Veterinary Science, Tirupati and The College of Veterinary Science, Gannavaram.
The Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University is located at Chittoor Road, Prakasam Nagar Colony, Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. With a distance of 25.2 km, Tirupati International Airport is the closest airport to the university premises. SVVU Tirupati is located 4.2 km away from the Tirupati Railway Station. The nearest bus stop to the university is Tirupati Bus Stop and is just 4.1 km away from the campus.
SVVU is Approved by University Grant Commission (UGC), New Delhi. The University is also Recognized by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI).

Super Speciality Veterinary
Courses offered at SVVU include Bachelor of Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc), B.V.Sc.&A.H, B.Tech (Dairy Technology), Diploma, M.F.Sc, M.V.Sc, M.Tech along with PhD programs in different branches of Veterinary, Dairy and Fishery Sciences, to promote farmer oriented and need based research to develop harvest and post harvest technologies. The University also offers a two-year Diploma Program in Animal Husbandry and also in Fishery Science for rural youth who have completed 10th class (Senior Secondary Certificate) to cater to the requirements of Para-veterinary and Para-fishery staff of the state. Selection in all the bachelors’ courses will be done on the basis of an Entrance Examination of Andhra Pradesh called EAMCET. The admission to M.F.Sc. and M.Tech will depend on the marks in B.F.Sc/B.Tech(Dairy). The PhD selection will be done on the basis of marks in the entrance exam, Master’s degree, Bachelor’s degree and interview in the ratio 50:20:10:20.
SVVU Tirupati campus has a large number of facilities and modern infrastructure for students and faculty members. Entrepreneurship and Skill development are important activities in UG programs and this is facilitated by providing a revolving fund of 1.0 lakh each for the program such as sheep and goat, swine, dairy cattle rearing, feed and mineral mixture production, dairy products development, production of value-added meat and fish products etc. The students participate in these programs and gain the much-needed hands-on experience.
