Overview

In 1952 the Agurchand Manmull Jain College was established by the magnanimity and munificence of Padmasri Mohanmulji Chordia through the Sri.S.S.Jain Educational Society, at the Inspiration of her Holiness Shri.Sayar Kanwarji Maharaj.Shri.Sri Prakasa,the then Governor of Madras Presidency, performed the auspicious task of inauguration on the 25th of June 1952 at the Jain Boarding Home Premises in Madley Road,T.Nagar.The College got shifted to its new campus in Meenambakkam in 1954.That was indeed a very unique occasion in which two great educationists, late Dr.S.Radhakrishnan(the then Vice-President of India) and late Dr.A.Lakshmanaswami Mudaliar the then Vice-Chancellor of the University of Madras graced with their presence. The Former laying the foundation stone and the latter presiding over the function.

Admission Process

M Jain College, Chennai conducts UG and PG level degree courses in various streams like arts, commerce and science. These courses are undertaken in two shifts namely shift 1 and shift 2. Under UG domain, the college conducts courses including 6 specialisations of BA, 13 specialisations in B.Sc., 7 specialisations for B.Com, BBA and BCA programmes. For Graduates there are PG level courses including 2 specialisations in MA, 5 in M.Sc., M.Com and several research oriented courses in almost 4 disciplines. Admissions to UG and PG courses considers previous academic records and eligibility norms as per the guidelines of the University.Admission to UG courses of Arunai Engineering course is granted on the basis of TNCPEE Score.Application forms are available in offline modeFor UG and PG courses admissions are done purely on the basis of merit in qualifying examination followed by counselling and personal interview sessionFor Ph.D., admissions are done on merit basis followed by a written test as per the guidelines laid out by the affiliating UniversityFinal seats are granted after the counselling process and personal interview processStudents must obtain eligibility certificate from the UniversityAgurchand Manmull Jain College or AM Jain College in Chennai came into existence in the year 1952 under Sri S.S Jain Educational Society. * Government scholarships are available for students belonging to SC/SCC/ST/BC/DNC/MBC communities. Students are advised to contact the College Office and refer the Students' Notice Board for periodical information. 
* Scholarship for Minorities (Jains/Muslims/Christians/Parsis/Sikhs/Buddhists) are available. Students are advised to log on to www.scholarships.gov.in and use student login. Students logging into this website will be provided temporary permanent student ID No, which must be submitted to the College Office along with relevant documents. Any further clarification regarding minority scholarship can be sought from the College Office. 
* To be eligible for any scholarship, a student must have a minimum of 90% attendance and a good and consistent academic record.
* Application forms for SC/SCC/ST/BC/DNC/MBC communities can be obtained from the College Office. For availing community scholarships, students from eligible communities are advised to submit their community and income certificates

MTC Bus Concessions

In our college, for the sake of students travelling in bus, we arrange bus pass in concession rate from MTC. The process of providing bus pass starts from the month of June and ends in November. This goes on every year with the blessings from our Secretary, Principal, Advisors and Deputy Deans. Every year, including this academic year (2015-16) more than 500 students got benefited by the bus pass. In addition, we also give orientation programme on road safety for students

RAILWAY CONCESSIONS

Application for railway concession can be obtained after 1.30 p.m. on any working day on production of student identity card.

STUDENT’S BUS CONCESSIONS

Application for bus pass can be obtained after 1.30 p.m

IDENTITY CARDS

Each student of this college should possess identity card with his photo affixed on it duly attested by the principal.

This identity card shall be shown on demand while transacting any business in the extension Counter of the bank, the college office and the library. Also at the time of college or university examinations of student shall possess the identity card with him.
