A.V.C. Polytechnic College, a premier institution owes its birth munificent role played by the Anbanathapuram Vahayara Charities (A.V.C.) Mayiladuthurai. Right from its inception of 205 years ago in 1806, the A.V. Charities has been serving the humanity in the field of religion and charities. The great philanthropist Thiru. S. Ramalingam Pillai, set apart the sixth share of the property in memory of his deceased son Thiru. R. Velayutham Pillai for charitable purposes. The property of the trust is managed by his descendents hailing from Anbanathapuram, Enathimangalam, Pallavarayapet, Kargudy and Kanganamputhur villages.

The students may seek admission either on Merit Quota or Management Quota.
For Merit Quota: After the last date of submission of application, the applications will be
scrutinized and the merit list will be prepared. It will be displayed in the college notice board and also
call letters will be sent for counseling.
For Management Quota: Direct admission will be done for Management Quota for eligible
candidates.

In the Merit Quota, Government reservation policy will be followed. The reservation
policy is as follows:

BC : 26.50%
BC-MUSLIM : 3.50%
MBC : 20%
SC/ST : 19%

The A.V.C.Polytechnic College has a full-fledged Training and Placement Cell to look after its placement activities. The Training and Placement Cell provides the official support base for employment of the students with the following Objectives:

To provide at least a single job opening for each eligible student.
To identify at least two new companies per department every year.
To make five percent increase in overall placement every year.
To guide students on various interview techniques, group discussions, aptitude tests.
