National College of Law, Shivamogga was established in the year 1966 by National Education Society, Shivamogga. BAR COUNCIL OF INDIA, New Delhi has recognized the institution from its inception, and the college is accorded Permanent affiliation by KARNATAKA STATE LAW UNIVERSITY. This College is Re-accredited and assessed by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)–UGC at B+ Level by 2016. The College was re-nomenclatured as C. Bhimasena Rao National College of law in the reminisce of its former Principal.

The institution offers Three year LL.B, degree course for graduates as well as Five year LL.B, Integrated degree course for students passing PUC/ (10+2) level with 45 percent of marks in OBC and for SC and ST 40 Percent. Centre for post graduate studies in law was started in the year 2004-05 to impart post graduate education in business law. However, presently the centre is offering One year LL.M., of two semesters Programme in constitutional law. The Post graduate LL.M., Programme is open to all law graduates with 45 % and who qualify in the entrance examination conducted by Law University.

The college functions in an atmosphere of well equipped campus located in the heart of the city. Committed to excellence in Legal Education, the College has a thoughtfully developed infrastructure for imparting legal knowledge and skills of Advocacy. The independent college building is having spacious lecture halls, well equipped library, well furnished Moot-Court hall, Computer laboratory with internet facility, Multi Gym and an Auditorium. The college provides a separate and spacious room for each class and section. Three class rooms are supported by Smart Boards. A dedicated faculty of highly qualified academicians is in action to help the student advocates to pursue their legal studies. Students are encouraged to interact with the faculty, both inside as well as outside the faculty lounge. Learning the law in the applied sense is also made possible by means of Internship. Thus, college as a living entity consisting of the students, faculty, administrative and supportive staff, is aiming to provide professional training in law, promote legal awareness to strengthen democratic traditions and to uphold constitutional and human values.

The library housed in adjacent halls. As on date, the college library has more than 26.716 of books on its accession. Internet facility, audio-visual and video cassettes, CD’s, overhead and slide projectors and LCD to supplement and strengthen the learning abilities of the students have been provided. An exclusive computer lab with 50 computer and internet facility for quality computer education has been housed on the first floor of the main building. A gymnasium to perfect the physique to nurture a sound and a vibrant mind is situated on the ground floor. Auditorium with a seating capacity for 200 students on the first floor and Moot Court Hall is inviting students to articulate their expression for argumentative skills, their imagination and talent. Academic excellence is the top priority at our college.

Besides encouraging students in their academic pursuits, the college offers many scholarships to encourage quality in achievement. All round development, service mindedness, sacrifice, discipline and character are nurtured in NSS, Red Cross, Red Ribbon and Sports. The college boasts of many excellent sportsmen, NSS Volunteers both at the university and State level. Admission Procedure

A student desirous of seeking admission to the college shall obtain the admission application form by paying the prescribed fee. After filling in all the required information, the application for admission shall be registered with the college office.

Selection of candidates shall be on the basis of Rules and Regulations regarding Merit and Reservation Policy of the Government of Karnataka.

The list of selected candidates for admission will be notified in the College Notice Board.

Students may be called to appear before the Admission Committee for final selection.

Candidates must meet the minimum eligibility criteria.

Placement Cell

Headed by senior faculty personnel and with an aim of fetching lucrative placements for all students, a dedicated placement cell has been set up. Efforts of several HR experts have gone in deciding the strategies for the working of this cell so as to deliver the best to the students. CBRNCL strongly believes that it is their prime responsibility to make sure that all the students get placed as Advocates/Law officers. All students are bound to reap the benefits of a strong liaison maintained by CBRNCL with different Law Firms/ organizations and Senior Law Offices. There is constant interaction between the students and the placement in-charge throughout the programme. The placement cell conducts various talk sessions with experienced career advisors to keep the students abreast of the various avenues available for them.

Special grooming sessions are conducted wherein communication skills, presentation skills, physical grooming and Professional/corporate dressing issues of students are addressed apart from seminars, guest lecturers & career conferences. The cell conducts a lot of in-house mock interviews that helps in identifying the student’s weak areas. Mock interviews give a clear cut direction to the faculty as to which aspects of a student requires special attention. Placement cell is committed to utilize its diversified & strong links for the placement of students in prestigious organizations.

The college has carrier guidance and placement cell which was started in 2009. Besides, the college also organizes career oriented programmes of instruction to make students more aware and keener. The college in association with Rotary and such other organizations organizes job meals where corporate sectors setup their offices to make selections for their companies.

The placement and career guidance cell also invites law firms for campus placement. Industry - Institution - community interactions have contributed a great deal to the Institution. The interactions provided an opportunity to the students to associate with senior Counsel’s office for internship. Some of the students are absorbed as Junior to leading senior advocates. These interactions contributed in upgrading academic and research facilities. Students are trained in English language speaking skills through the aid of soft skills to enable them for a better performance in profession. The collaboration with Shivamogga District Bar Association has facilitated the students placement as Junior Advocates attached to various Senior Advocates office. Members of Alumni Association also provide Junior-ship to pass out students. Various career guidance programs are also conducted by the college in Linkage with University and Alumni.

Constituent Assembly Debates, Law Commission Reports, law Reports, Commentaries, Encyclopedia, and adequate books on both legal and other social sciences. I.T Infrastructure
The College has A well-equipped computer lab is provided to the college students. It has several computers with NT Network Lab. internet facilities are provided. Faculty and students can access online resources through UGC - Infonet-based NLIST for their studies and research activities and also can download and take printouts at minimum charges.

The College also provides a well-equipped gymnasium with a multi-gym facility.

The College Besides imparting excellent Legal education to the students, the college also encourages extra-curricular activities and sports and games.
