College of Engineering Munnar is an Institute of higher learning established by Government of Kerala and is managed by the Center for Continuing Education Kerala ( CCEK ). The Institution started in the year 2000 was affiliated to Cochin University of Science and Technology and is affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University Kerala from 2015 admission onwards. The college is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The Chairman of the Governing Body of the institution is the Hon’ble Minister for Education, Government of Kerala and the Vice-Chairman is the Additional Chief Secretary (Higher Education) Government of Kerala.

Since its inception, CEM has been priding itself on creating professional opportunities for its students and equipping them to become highly successful on their chosen field. Located in one of the most livable cities in the world, and associated with one of the finest universities in the region, the campus attracts students from all over the country. It is established in 26 acres of land in the Kannan Devan hills, just one kilometer of Munnar town.

Admission to UG Programmes:

Allotment to 95% seats of the annual intake is on the basis of the All Kerala Common Entrance Examination, conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Govt. of Kerala.  The criteria for B.Tech degree admission is prescribed by the CEE, Govt. of Kerala and KTU. Govt. of Kerala publishes a common prospectus for admission to professional degree courses, every year.

Library

Central Library of College of Engineering Munnar is sprawling over a carpet area of 470 sq.m with a three storeyed structure, Central Library of the institution stands ahead of time with ample spaces for reading, reference, e-learning and for technical services.  Its location, ambient climate, enriched with flora and fauna, cool breeze from dawn to dusk, clean air mixed with the pouring of mist make any academician to envy. Its an modern technical learning centre equipped with Gurukul style of academic pursuit for maintaining professional ethics.

College Buses

The college buses are plying through the veins and arteries of Munnar town and reach up to the hostels of the students and staff where they are put in. It is functioning very effectively by the generous annual contributions of the students and staff. A committee led by the Principal controls it with the help of a Secretary. At present, Sri. Anil Kumar K.R., Lecturer in Mechanical is holding the charge. The college buses can be hired for academic as well as tourism purpose for students and staff with the prior permission of the committee as per the norms and rate fixed by the committee at that time.
