The Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Psychiatry is a three-year postgraduate program in India that prepares students to diagnose and treat Mental Health Disorders.
Students learn about The Medical, Psychological, and Social aspects of Mental Health Disorders. They also learn about Neurobiology, Biopsychology, and how to prescribe psychiatric drugs.
Students gain clinical experience in a variety of Psychiatric disciplines, such as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, and Forensic Psychiatry. They also learn how to treat patients through counseling, psychotherapy, and other methods.
The goal of the program is to produce Clinicians who can provide Healthcare for Mental Health Disorders, and who can also teach and consult in the field.
To be eligible for the program, candidates must have an MBBS, DMS, BHMS, or BDS degree with a minimum of 50% score and be registered with the MCI or State Medical Council. Admission to the course is based on the student’s performance in a relevant entrance exam conducted for admission to the course, such as National Eligibility Cum entrance test (NEET). The average tuition fee charged in India for the course ranges between INR 25,000 and 20 Lakhs.
Psychiatrists can work in public and private hospitals, colleges, and universities, in India and abroad. They are hired in fields such as Health Clinics, Health Centers, Healthcare, Natural Apothecaries, College Health Centers, Hospitals, etc., or may even pursue private practice.

Admission Procedure For M.D Psychiatry:
