Overview :

The Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH) is an undergraduate degree program in India that focuses on the study of veterinary medicine and animal husbandry and deals with the study of medical diagnostics, prevention, and treatment of diseases of the animals. The duration of the BVSc course is 5.5 years, including a 1-year compulsory internship training program.

Students learn about Animal Husbandry, Applied Veterinary Science, and Animal Husbandry Economics and Extension. They also participate in Field and Laboratory work, and an intensive Internship program.

The BVSc & AH degree is the basic qualification for practicing as a qualified veterinary practitioner in India. It's recognized by the Veterinary Council of India, the apex professional body that controls veterinary graduate education and practice.

To enroll in the BVSc course, candidates must complete Class 12 in the Science stream with PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) subjects and must be at least 18 years old and no more than 25 years old. Qualifying the NEET exam is mandatory for admission to this course.

Graduates of the BVSc course can work as Veterinarians, Veterinary Research Scientists, Animal Breeders, Veterinary Officers, and Veterinary Surgeons.

Admission Procedure For  B.V.Sc Veterinary Science:

The admission process for a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) course in India typically involves:

• Passing Class 12 with a minimum of 50% in the Science stream, including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB)
• Appearing for an entrance exam such as NEET, ICAR AIEEA, CG PAT, or AP EAMCET
• Being at least 17 years old and no more than 25 years old
• Applying online
• Being selected based on merit in the entrance exam

Eligibility For B.V.Sc  Veterinary Science:

To be eligible for a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) course in India, you must:

• Pass the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET-UG)
• Have a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the 10+2 or Higher Secondary Examination from any recognized board of India. Some universities and colleges conduct entrance exams for the candidates to be eligible for the course.
• Meet the age limit of at least 17 years as on December 31 during the year of admission
• Not have any disabilities that would interfere with the performance of a veterinarian's duties

Other eligibility criteria may include:

• Candidates from Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe may need to secure 47.5% marks
• Sponsored candidates from foreign countries under Bilateral/Multilateral Agreement and NRI/NRI Sponsored candidates may be exempt from appearing in the VET
• The Veterinary Council of India (VCI) reserves 15% of the total seats in each veterinary college for admission through its independent admission procedure.
• During selection, candidates' academic merit is also considered in addition to entrance exam scores. This includes the marks obtained in Class 12 and any other relevant academic achievements.
