KARNATAKA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES, HUBBALLI was started in the year August 1957. The present KARNATAKA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES, HUBBALLI,( K.I.M.S. HUBBALLI.) was earlier known as the KARNATAKA MEDICAL COLLEGE, HUBBALLI. The College is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka.

Since its inception, the Institution has carried a brilliant history of having a host of eminent teachers as its faculty, numerous alumni who have glorified the name of this Institute. It has been playing, and continues to play a major role in serving the society at large, not only in terms of providing tertiary health care services to the needy, but also by developing resources in terms of health care providers and researchers.

The college is well-equipped with the latest infrastructure, technology-enabled classrooms and advanced laboratories, and continually focuses on teaching, clinical practise, and research. Excellent hostel facilities with well furnished rooms, with separate boys and girls hostel(UG and PG) blocks are available on the campus. A central mess with good dining facilities is attached to the hostel. In tune with the changing times, KIMS aims to help students excel in the various fields of study of their choice.

In the field of education, KIMS is looking at engaging the students in overall development processes. We have designed a co-curricular and extra curricular activities for the students to be involved.

The College offers degrees in MBBS, MD and MS in all specialties, DM and MCH in the super specialties and PG Diploma At KIMS, we strive to nurture a well-rounded professional. Here, our focus is on building doctors with a strong, comprehensive foundation of medical knowledge.

Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), formerly known as Karnataka Medical College, Hubli, is a government medical college established in 1957 in Hubballi, Karnataka. KIMS Hubli has been approved by MCI and is affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science (RGUHS), Bangalore. KIMS Hubli offers MBBS at the UG level, MD/ MS and PG Diploma at the PG level and DM/ M.Ch at the Super Specialty level. The institute also offers B.Sc Nursing, Post-Basic B.Sc Nursing, and Diploma in Nursing under its School of Nursing.

Admission to MBBS, MD/MS, and DM/M.Ch at KIMS Hubli is based on NEET UG, NEET PG, and NEET SS, respectively. For admission to B.SC Nursing, the candidates have to appear for KCET. KIMS Hubli has excellent infrastructure, including tech-enabled classrooms, experienced teachers, housing facilities for both males and girls, a central library, high-tech laboratories, furnished lecture theatres, and a variety of seating and lounging areas for students. Students at KIMS are also given the chance to participate in co-curricular activities such as university athletics, cultural activities, and national health programs.

There are no placements as such in MBBS. After 4 years of MBBS, you will be an intern in the same hospital with a salary of INR 30,000 per month. You will be posted in every department during the internship, which will be very hectic because it is a government hospital and the patient loads will be immense.

KIMS library facilities have all the necessary amenities including computer services, internet facilities and many other facilities. The library is full of reading materials and Indian and international journals to provide students and faculty with exposure. Boys Hostel

The college provides hostels to boys students for accommodation. KIMS hostel facilities are well-maintained. The hostels are well-furnished and have recreation rooms, visitor rooms, indoor games facilities and computer facilities. All the hostels have a mess facility which serves quality and hygienic food to students. The hostel rooms are spacious and well-ventilated.

Girls Hostel

The college also provides separate accommodation facilities for female students also in its campus. There are three hostels for female students. All the hostels have a mess facility for providing quality and hygienic food to students.

Medical/Hospital

The medical facilities are also provided to the college’s students and faculty. A healthcare centre with first-aid medical facilities is available at the KIMS campus facilities.

Library

KIMS library facilities are a hub of national and international journals. It adequately serves the information needs and requirements of the faculty members, research scholars, postgraduates and undergraduates. The library has separate UG and PG sitting facilities. The library is also provided with computers having internet facilities. Other KIMS library facilities are printing and photocopying, scanning, WiFi and many other facilities.

Sports

KIMS sports facilities include indoor and outdoor sports facilities for the students. The sports facilities ensure the overall well-being of the students.
